30 year old bibliophile. I love a good love story.
i found the emphasis on the heroine being a domanant wolf equating to out and out unpleasentness and rude behavior didn't work for me. also all of the sex scenes were vaguely "rapey" with the heroine screaming profanity during their interactions i never felt like the two characters worked for me. The creepy one liners by "pack mates" was off putting and I really didn't like any of the characters
no probably not
i found the characters all so unlikable that I can't say any of them. it was not due to anything lacking is ms. Redfields preformance but rather the authors work
dissapointment and and overall ick factor
I Wouldn't recommend it to anyone I know.
Let me just say, I finished this, despite the incredibly gross and graphic sex in this book. I was pulled in enough by the story being told that I kind of just endured the sex, but seriously? As much as I enjoyed Taryn and her awesome smart alecky, sarcastic comments and her feistiness, and the hotness that is Trey, 'm going to return this book. There's no way I can hear all of that sex again, and it's sex in any possible form. It really was pornographic. If this kind of thing doesn't bother you, you'll love the story, I did, but if you, like me, think that sex should stay between the couple and behind closed doors, AVOID this book, you won't like it. I'm sad to have to give it such a mixed review. :(
Humor. I seriously loved all of the crazy comments, particularly from Taryn and Dominique. Soooo funny!
Audio books are just my cup of tea!
Really enjoyed this book, love a strong female character with a strong male character. The humor and sarcasm are fantastic and the sex is steamy! If this had been my first Shifter novel I would have been a little lost about the culture, the author does not go into a lot of details on Shifters. If you have read a lot of these books you may not mind, if it is a first for you may be a little lost.
Jill Redfield is a great narrator!
If you enjoyed this book I would recommend Patricia Briggs, Mercy Thompson series.
The heroin in this novel is immensely unlikable! Although she is supposed to be tough, smart and charmingly impudent, she comes off as smart-mouthed, bitchy, and disrespectful. In addition, the attraction felt by her mate for her was simply not plausible. With the main character being such a negative harpy, it was hard to find anything redeeming in the book.
I adore mysteries, science fiction (hard core) and paranormal (such as the Greywalker series). This definitely was not one for my tastes - predominately sex with werewolf as basis for kinkier sex. Not much story.
makes me very cautious in looking for books in the fantasy category
she was amazing - particularly given the text she was reading.
personally not but that is because romance novels are so not my cuppa
Audible Addict!!! My Favorite books have change since joining Audible and my taste for erotic has enhanced! Follow me to the dark side. ;)
Its Hot, Funny, and I listen to it at least once a week.
This this my second favorite series next to Exposed and Deception by Naomi Chase. Of the supernatural genera. This is the one. It was also my first wolf pack or shifter series and has caused me to look for more!
Trey. So dominant and just in control. I love a man with this type of swag.
I loved every moment but The moment after the birthday party still has me panting. Hot
I love this book. Cant wait for Tremors of Need. OMG
I would categorize this book under erotica, not under Paranormal fantasy/Romance.
True it follows the storyline of our 2 alpha wolf shifters protagonists, but I would have to say that most of their story keeps focusing with much detail into their many antics in the bedroom (and kitchen, shower, forest, ect).
Jill redfield set's a good pace for this storyline ,that makes it enjoyable to listen to . Although the quick & sassy comments of the female lead character tends to get a bit old half way thru the story, as a narrator somehow she makes it work.
I guess you could make a movie from it; but it would be one with an x-rating!
There are scenes in the story that might be uncomfortable for some readers, since their mating does tend to get a bit aggressive at times (example; the male alpha lead character having to overpower the female alpha lead in order to win her sexual submission).
In the end it is a fairly good book with a descent story line perfect when one is in the mood for a simple but Entertaining/frisky listen.
I'm a lover of books, both read and audible.
I started reading this book because of the reviews that I read. Majority of them praised the Suzanne for being a fantastic story teller. I’m extremely happy I decided to plug in my ear buds and listen. The main characters of the story are amazing; Taryn and Trey are both wolf shifters.
Taryn is a sarcastic, no nonsense, latent wolf shifter that doesn’t tolerate anyone’s crap. Being a latent wolf shifter means she is unable to shift into her wolf form, which people tend to mistake as a weakness. It is not. I think this gives her more strength to prove herself as a wolf shifter and an alpha female.
Trey is an alpha male of his own pack. He was label as a psychotic wolf early in life because he has a tendency to become feral when in his wolf form. When Trey is feral the animal nature overrides his humanity and he loses Trey within the wolf. He was exiled from his pack by his own father as a kid and forced to grow up fast, to lead his own pack.
The plot, Taryn is unwillingly forced into an engagement that she didn’t chose nor does she want. Trey is in need of some very strong and powerful allies, which Taryn father has both. They decided to help each other with their individual problems.
The story keeps at an excited pace, that doesn’t let the listener get bored or drift off from the book. There is tons of humor and witty dialogue that kept me laughing to myself throughout the book. The interaction between Taryn and Trey’s grandmother is priceless. There are a lot of romance scenes and graphic language throughout the book that I really enjoyed. Some might think they were too excessive but not me.
I enjoyed listening to Jill narration of the book. I think she did a good job distinguishing the voices of the different characters within the book. I hope she does the narration for book 2, as well.
I am Who I am; and you are Who you are...so lets leave it at that.
Where should I start. Well I got the book because its romance and paranormal two of my favorite things. (And let get real the price was not bad at all.)
The herion of the story is great. She is snarky and takes no lip from no one. She reminds of me:0) The series will be like other romances but what draws you in are the characters. There is a tragic alpha with a sad back story and the same sad back story for the herion. They need to learn how to open up with one another. Sound familiar. Well it is a romance. It is how the story is told. Well I think they did a pretty good job. There is also a lot naughtyness going on but again romance. The writer introduces a lot of character so I believe the series will be a long one. It kinda reminds me of the Christine Warrens series "the others" but this one only has werewolves. I enjoyed how they did not take a lot time explaining how "humans" know about them. I think it takes away from the characters' love affair when they start talking about how socity reacts to the paranormal. They also did not wallow in the unhappy childhoods the characters had.
All in all it is worth the money and the free time. There are a lot of steamy love scene, a lot dirty talk, strong female with a soft spot for her man, sexy dangerous men, funny one liners (my opinion), and werewolf politics.
I was entertain...I hope you will be too ;o)
I LOVED this book! Why? The hilarious coments made by the main character along with an absolutely wonderful narrator!
Here's just one of the sarcastic remarks stated :
“I’d rather lie under an elephant suffering from diarrhea with my mouth open wide.”
I mean, seriously, with the funny comments expertly delivered by one of the best narrators I've ever listened to, it was one of those books you're hoping lasts and lasts because you enjoy it so much.
I will warn that there are some explicit sex scenes that I fast-forwarded through and thought weren't necessary to the storyline. That's the only reason I gave this 4 stars on story instead of 5. It just got a little too much, too often, and seemed to take away from the rest of the story.
I will definitely be looking for more from both this author and the narrator!
