The story was good, and moved along well.
I liked the action and romance.
The girl was very sassy and Jill portrayed her well.
I laughed out loud quite a bit.
The real sin here is that this book got published. There’s clearly such an insatiable market for paranormal “erotica” that anything will be published these days. I can just imagine the pitch that sold it - Mercy Thompson meets Bared to You meets The Highlander’s Reward..
There was no paranormal world development because, hey, who needs to when cashing in on other writers’ concepts. So, I was already annoyed when the real focus of the book – the “Bared to You” cloning – was revealed.
Don’t get me wrong, I like a good blow-by-blow sex scene; it’s the S & M tone of this book and other “erotica” that I find unfathomable. How is more than slightly misogynistic sex – with seduction consisting of “I’m going to f... you” and threat of sodomy foreplay - that erotic? Tell me, how strong is a woman character who enjoys not so subtle debasement? With the paranormal element, it’s clearly aimed at women though the sex is more like your age old porno for men!
I bought this as the 3rd book in a 2-for-3 sale so I guess there is no point in returning it. If only I could get that 2 hours back and spend it listening to Mercy, Sookie and a very few other original and entertaining series again. At least I didn’t’ waste the whole 12 hours!
This audiobook was just amazing! Again, I say amazing! The narrator was good. And while I really liked this shape shifting wolf story, the best qualities of this audiobook are that it delivers continuous laughs, super quick wit, humor and fun in a truly engaging storyline. This audiobook was so much fun! I laughed through the entire audiobook, it was so good! And oh... there was plenty of hot sizzling arousing steamy sexy going on too! I experienced such enjoyment from this audiobook that I am most pleased to report that I am very-very satisfied! So now I'm on to the next audiobook in this series right after I drink a tall glass of ice water and get cool.
I did not read the print version so by default, the answer is YES! I especially liked the way the narrator, Jill Redfield, portrayed the main female character.
Dante was my favorite character (with Taryn a very close 2nd). He was hilarious, intuitive, and 100% loyal to his pack.
She is great at portraying the sarcasm that drips from everyone's lips, especially the main female character, Taryn. She has the right amount of bite in her tone when the characters are upset and she also expresses the intimate emotion well.
Never under estimate a Phoenix Wolf.
This was a great book. It was thrilling, exciting, and intriguing. It didn't take me long to listen to the whole book because I loved it so much.
I like the writing and narration of this book. I read or listen to several shifter series, and they range from formulaic through pretty decent (this series fits that) to outstanding (Nalini Singh's Psy-Changling series is my all time favorite). This is a good series opener with engaging characters and a believable paranormal world. The characters are strong, and I like the relationships between the pack members. It's credit worthy and enjoyable.
Absolutely like my heading says, the characters were a treat listen to. I laughed throughout the whole book.
That's a hard question because I loved Taryn's mouth, Dominic was too funny and Grandma was a trip.
Taryn. Jill Redfied is one of my very favorite narrator's.
Yes, I wish I could have but then it would end to soon which would have made me sad.
I don't know why I didn't hear about this book earlier. It's been out over a year. just reminds me how much I love a paranormal shape shifter.
I actually enjoy the story and the series. I am somewhat offended by the sex scenes. I find them overly graphic. In book 3 we have a submissive girlfriend "wearing" a "butt plug" in order to prepare for the upcoming anal sex. Honestly I wonder if the author is a man with a female pen name who gets off on bondage. Anyhow, if I do any more of these, I will buy them in paperback so I don't have to listen (and risk having my children hear) such descriptions. In a book it is so much easier to skip to the right spot just after they finish. Apparently I am becoming a prude in my (young) age.
I am hooked! I love the characters, the narrator does an excellent job! I will be listening to the entire series! Excellent sex hot hot hot!
It was very pornographic! I like a little romp & romance but this was just over the top!
really great reader
Lots of them
I would have liked more warning about the content of this novel. My husband & I both found the book much more graphic than we expected!
Voracious reader, aspiring writer ...
this book should have been written in the first person ... the story, more than that the characters are not strong enough, and they lose a lot of conviction being written in third omniscient ...
not quite sure yet ... I would have had the book been written in first person ..
she folds to the omniscient ... her reading is flat ... there is no tone at all ... she brings nothing at all to the raw emotion that SHOULD be conveyed in a story where an abandoned daughter has been forced to joined with an insane enemy .. her performance has not heat ...
I needed more wine to evoke some sort of feeling and even that did not do the trick .. this 'story' is awful ... there is a lot of sex, with an undertone of daddy masochisim ... I mean any man with a "DADDY" complex will love this tale ... more than that any female who is extremely confused about her place in life will find it here in this story ... it is absolutely awful and it sets back feminism back to bedrock!! (You will find this reference funny if you make it past the fourth chapter) this book was written for lazy readers ..
if you want to see how this sort of story should be done ... check out jesstoyou at litorotica ... the story I think is Nicoletta
