I really was not sure if i would like this book in the beginning as i have a hard time with accents but this book took me by surprise. My heart hurt, tears fell, and i smiled ear to ear in many parts of the book. This one is a keeper! Get ready to enjoy a night of listening as I did.
Great story it was interesting and had charming interplay between the two main characters
I think this is a new style for me but i really enjoyed it
she had great inflection which really bought the emotions and characters to life
I didn't want to put it down and I resented every interruption which seemed like happened a lot
Loved this book and i will be looking for any other books by this author
I've been an avid reader since I was a child. I love different types of writing styles and I am never afraid to try new authors.
If you are looking for a light easy listen this is a good choice. It was easy to listen to and flowed well. The content was very light hearted and the characters were easy to like.
Yes , it was such a great, cute story. It made me happy listening to it.
Probably Cole because he was brave & independent. He also had his a good romantic side to him.
I didn't expect to like this book that much but I was really surprised ! I liked the characters, the story & their Australian accents ! I will be listening to this audible book again !
Just about everything. It was so refreshing to hear some Australian accent.
Also, I loved the characters in this story and how they developed from the beginning to the end.
Cole is a person you could easily getting to feel sorry for, but I never once did. Despite his handicap he is a strong person who won't take BS from anyone.
I liked Anthea. At the beginning she is clearly struggling to find her place in life, but she slowly becomes more at ease with herself throughout the book.
Anthea and Cole's banter wereless entertaining, smart and matched their age.
Private Practice by Samanthe Beck
Take a Chance on Me by Susan Donovan
No, this was the first one, but I actually like her narration so much I have searched for more of her on Audible. She was really great - good voice, good accents and reading the male voices reasonably, not making them sound like cavemen or something.
Definitely! Unfortunately I wasn't able to.
Favourite funny parts:
- How his plan on the kissing part backfired and got HIM uncomfortable.
- When Mike asks Cole about all his pink T-shirts.
This is a story that I would love to see as a film. It is funny, sweet, warm, sexy, and the characters have depth.
Say something about yourself!
I got this book on sale...and I have to say I am happy I did. This is a traditional romance story...no ghouls vampires or other worldly things, and yet I liked it. It's a new spin on a classic tale of Rich Girl gets humbled by common man. In this story the entire thing takes place outside of Sydney Australia and everyone has Australian accents....there is an actress from a small town who left her roots and never looked back and became a star...sort of. She hasn't ever been in a dramatic role or anything, she is an action chick, so while she is a household name, it isn't for her talent...more like her looks. She wants desperately to get the leading part in the new dramatic movie...but how can she learn what it is like to be a "Farmers Wife"?
Enter Cole....Cole is a blind man...a blind farmer...but he is also the boy that was teased relentlessly by the now famous actress. A plan is hatched that she doesn't know he knows who she really is...and she won't tell him for fear she will be kicked off the property and never learn about being a farmer, or a farmer's wife.
It was a really cute story...a bit of contrived drama near the end that didn't have to happen, but for the most part I really enjoyed the book/story. Now for the narration...okay I gave it 3 stars because I got use to it in the end and I could tell who was male and who was female. My major glitch was that everyone spoke with an Australian accent...but spoke with an american accent when they were thinking to themselves? Kind of bugged me that a characters internal voice would sound like they were from Ohio, but their speaking voice had an Australian accent. Like I said, I got over it, but very odd!
Overall, if you are looking for a story that isn't instant love, isn't total fluff, and has a decent plot I say go for it.
Wonderful...the author and narrator played this really well!
I was unprepared for emotions this book stirred up in me. Two lost souls; Anthea is lost to her celebrity, and Cole is lost to the horrific event that altered his life forever. Their chance meeting would bring about huge changes in their lives, and I thought the author did a great job entwining the characters and their stories! I was impressed when I found out this was her debut novel!
I didn't like Anthea at first, but once she settled into her role as Ann, a fake name she used, her true personality came through and I grew to like her...a lot! Deep down she was always this sweet caring person, but it was tamped down by the fame and success she acquired at such a young age.
Cole, broke my heart. Living alone, trapped by his disability and insecurity. He was a beautiful man, and he just needed to have the right woman come into his life to make him step out of the safety of the world he created for himself. All he ever had to gauge romance on was the books that he listened to, so sweet and touching, but he paid attention and when the moment came for him to become intimate for the first time, he had the stuff to make Anthea/Ann and me... RAWRRRR!!!
I was shocked when it was revealed as to what happened to him as a child, I didn't see it coming, made me want to wrap my arms around him. I had my suspicions about what caused Cole's blindness, and as your reading, don't scoff, it's real, although in Cole's case it might have been exaggerated to add effect to the read.
I wanted more in the way of an ending, it was sweet, but...something was missing. I could see this going the way of a series. There were a few secondary characters that felt had a story to tell and it would be awesome to catch up with Cole and Anthea, a novella would be nice too *hint hint*. Other than my problem with the ending, there was so much to love about this book. Even though there are some serious issues being dealt with, I never felt anxious, the story transitioned nicely and was a delight to read!
The narrator, Eva Kaminsky, was fabulous! I thought her Aussie accent was very authentic. She didn't try too hard, gave a distinct voice to each character, and emitted the emotions as the author intended. I'll be looking for more from her as well as the author, Darcy Daniel, who did a stand-out job with this debut novel!
I would certainly listen to it again. The story was amazing.
I loved the way that it was written. It was sweet and romantic and ended just the way I wanted it to.
If I could have listened to this story in one sitting I would have. I didn't want to put it down.
While I listened to this book, I thought of how amazing it would be to turn this book into a movie. I'd watch it on opening day and buy it when it first hits the shelves. I loved the story that much. I think turning it into a movie would draw more people into the story that might have other wise missed out.
Day dreaming book lover!
This is a really enjoyable listen. The story is heartfelt and warm. The narration is perfect and Eva Kaminsky's Australian accent is totally believable. This is not a complex romance that has you wondering how the hero/heroine get together. It is sweet and filled with loving romance. Highly recommended.
This is a fun story with some okay interaction between characters but really amazing transformations - spoilt self centred starlet becomes intuitive, introspective, caring and self aware while driving into the country - not very believable......the hero is blind and runs a farm all by himself - he doesn't even have a guide dog or a guide lines to direct him into the middle of the fields.....really... And despite never leaving the farm and being home schooled by his grandparents he up with current events.....oh and of course there is the miracle that his sight comes back in flashes at just the right moments but does he tell anyone - seek advise....no not until the misunderstanding when he must face his fears and......miracle he regains his sight. I bought it I listened all the way through, I tried to like the story but it was too flawed as were the accents.....atrocious. Sorry this story was such a disappointment both story and performance.
