"THIS IS THE NEWEST WINNER IN CHIVALRY AND ROMANCE!"
Yes, I have read every book on the breed by Lara Adrian and I have never been disappointed. It seems she just keeps getting better and better to the point I can hardly wait for the next in the series.I
Edger of Dawn might be closely compared to Darker after Midnight in that Dragos forces the warriors to come forward in order to protect "The Order" and Mankind.
Hillary Huber does a fantastic job with her performance every time. Using only the nuance of her voice and the spacing the characters each came alive.
"One Of The Top Vampire Series!"
Yes, The writing is very good. Great characters, hot love scenes, lots of action.
J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood
I enjoy her reading. Would like less "valley girl" in female characters.
Laughter, no crying, thank goodness. I don't do "cry" books!
Would highly recommend this series. Must start with book one and work your way thru.
"Great new beginning for the next generation!"
I love how she can bring the characters to life for me. She does the female and male voices very well. There is distinction between the vocies.
Love this series and can't wait for the next book. Adrian has opened a whole new cast of characters and story lines so we don't have to say good-bye to the ones we love so well. It's definitely fun to see who has had children and how their stories will unfold.
"A Little Disappointed at First"
I have anticipated this book ever since I saw that Lara Adrian was coming up with a new book for the Midnight Breed series. To me, the book moves a little slow at first. There were some unexpected twists, and the characters were really well developed as they are in all her books. However, the buildup seems to take a long time. in truth, I didn’t start to truly enjoy the book until part two of the novel. However, I listened in hopes that things would change, and they did.
I did like the fact that we were able to see all the characters from past books such as Lucan and Gabriel. Ms. Adrian gives a glimpse into the characters’ lives over the last two decades. We meet the children of the mates from the earlier novels and get to see the warriors and their mates. I think the only mated couple that is not mentioned are Clare and Andre.
While the first part of the novel did a great deal of catching us up on what’s happened for the past two decades, there is a romance going on, a kidnapping, conspiracy, and treason issues, and Mirror is in deeper than she initially thought. The one thing I truly loved about this novel is that Mirror grew up to be a kickass woman that can take care of herself. She’s a little high strung and vicious at times, but she’s a good fighter and a wonderful woman. The end of the book not only surprised me, but made me want to call Ms. Adrian and tell her to hurry up with the next book because there has to be a next book. Seeing Nathan, Kellin, and Rafe all grown up was treat too. In the end, I was surprised, pleased, and eagerly awaiting more.
"Hot!"
Yes. Great story! Very sexy. Keeps you on the edge.
The black dagger brotherhood series: can't specifically compare to another book, yet similar to this series. Really good story, great action and twists that you do not necessarily see coming. Hot male vampires!

Love Lost Found
Highly recommended. One of the best books in the midnight breed series.
"Terrific New Direction"
Love the new direction the MB is heading. I cannot wait for book 12! This is insane because usually by book 10 a series tends to go stale but Edge of Dawn has the maturity of a book 3 when a series really hits it stride but with the freshness of cracking open Book 1. Thank you Laura Adrian for finding the sweet-spot!
"Over It!"
I can honestly say I am done with this series, the build up is slow, learning about Mira's ineffectually ways of dealing with the death of Kellan. The little spit fire Mira has turned into a brooding, whining annoying young lady,
The story takes place twenty years after the world came to know vampires existed and what happen after first dawn when they were exposed. Plus the events leading up to the peace summit.
We are introduce to Lucan's son Darren and how him and his father are at odds with each other. He is like his father, a born leader and Lucan recognizes it and tries to keep him out of the field fear for his safety. Meanwhile, all Darren wants is a chance to prove himself as a man.
There is a new enemy, not going to spoil it for anyone, since the mystery is part of the appeal, but I will give you a clue, in earlier stories they talked about where the tear drop over a crested moon came from.
The warrior's children are all in their late teens and early twenties, so each one will find his or her mate in this new series, while fighting not only the humans but their new enemy as well.
If you are not ready to let go of the series than continue on, all the original warriors and mates are re- introduced and their political position they hold in world.
If the last book was a struggle for you, this one will make you want to scream in frustration.
"VT. FAN"
I DID LISTEN TO IT AGAIN. I LOVE THE WORLD ADRIAN BRINGS TO LIFE IN THIS SERIES. SHE FLAWLESSLY ENTERED INTO A NEW GENERATION OF THE BREED WITHOUT LEAVING THE CHARACTERS BEHIND THAT MADE THIS SERIES.
J R WARDS SERIES OR THE PHOENIX PACK SERIES. ALSO FOR THOSE WHO LIKE THIS GENRE AND STORY LINE TRY SUZANNE WRIGHT "HERE BE SEXIST VAMPIRE" GREAT SERIES OR TERESA GABLEMAN SERIES BOTH ARE GREAT.
ACTUALLY I HAVE BOTH BOOK AND AUDIO AND THERE ARE VERY FEW TIMES THAT I LIKE AUDIO OVER BOOK EVEN THOUGH I HAVE OVER 700 AUDIOBOOKS. BUT MIRA WAS LESS WHINY AND LESS OF A DOORMAT FOR KELLAN.
BOTH. ANGRY AND FRUSTRATED BECAUSE MIRA WAS SUPPOSE TO BE SUCH A BAD ASS BUT IS WAS ALL IN HER OWN MIND BECAUSE YOU NEVER REALLY SAW ANY OF THE BAD ASS IN HER AT ALL. SHE EITHER CRIED, WHINED OR BEGGED(SHE BEGGED A LOT FOR KELLAN TO CHOSE HER I WANTED TO JUMP THRU MY IPOD AND SMACK HER TELL HER TO HAVE SOME PRIDE).
EVEN THOUGH MIRA WAS MY LEAST FAVORED CHARACTER IN ANY OF THE BREED SERIES BOOKS(LOVED HER AS A CHILD IN PREVIOUS BOOKS THOUGH) I WOULD NEVER GIVE UP ON THIS SERIES AND ALL THE NEW GENERATION OF BREED WARRIORS AND THEIR POSSIBLE STORY LINES HAS ME THRILLED THAT THIS SERIES WILL CONTINUE. ADRIAN SURE LEFT A CLIFF HANGER ENDING. AND THE CARROT DANGLER POSSIBLE NEXT STORYLINE WITH NATHAN AND JORDANA. CANT WAIT.
"Good, but not great"
Maybe I'm getting a little bored with this series, but I just never really got into this book. The futuristic setting turned me off a little from the beginning and I had to make myself return to it several times. The story line is fine and I like Mira and Kellen as characters. I especially like that Mira was made into a warrior as opposed to a shielded wimp.
This narrator usually does an exceptional job, but there were a few parts that were completely off in terms of emotion and inflection.
It is worth a credit, especially if you like the series overall. It just wasn't one of my favorites.
