Sparse in theme/plot/story line, more on sex or BDSM wannabe. The author should have thought about the scene where Gabe 'served' Mia out to three other men. What is that?
I normally like Maya Banks books, but I was sadly disappointed in this one and have no plans to finish the series.
Not overly impressed with Adam Paul's narration. Maybe a female narrator would have been better. But I doubt it.
Everything, the plot is unrealistic, any vague facts are difficult to digest and the whole story line leaves you feeling as though you are listening to elevator music.
In all honesty I don't know
Not really, it could be due to the content he was forced to read, but I didn't like his voice much either
I couldn't get through the whole book, but I simply would not have published it in the first place
It really was very disappointing, there was no simmering tension, just straight into graphic sex scenes with bondage etc etc. maybe there are people out there who thrive on this sort of thing but not me. I think the blurb should also have a warning on the content, I genuinely believe that it is not suitable for younger teenage girls. I would not want my 13 year old niece reading it, the blurb does not give an inkling about the nature of the writing. It sends a very poor message to women, who on earth, in this day an age, would accept a contract such as the 'hero' proposes in this novel. Sorry, maybe it improves, but in didn't even make it to halfway before I turned it off in disgust.
All business but contemporary fun!
It started off really rough since the guy was just so rude. I think the author could have elaborated so much more on the "enchantment" between the characters for all these years before jumping into BDSM. that connection was missing.
The narrator was speaking so fast, like reading a text book as fast as possible. I think the main character came out so nasty instead of "alpha" male due to the performance.
The other 2 male charactors might make it possibility, they were more likeable.
Charactors don't seems real.....A girl that smart and beautiful with a solid support system would not degrade herself like that.
I restarted this story 3 times before I fianlly got through it. Narraotors voice droned on and on.
All but the last few chapters.
This is the first romance from Audible I've heard that is so raunchy and degrding to the woman. I need to check the reviews closer next time. I feel like I need a shower! Very disappointed.
If you're an open minded reader and modern, slightly erotic romance is your genre, then I'd suggest ignoring the negative reviews of the book and trying it. I went in a bit suspicious due to the reviews, but found I liked the plot and characters. My ability to connect with a character's humanity is important to me and and I felt Banks included enough humanity in her characters to make them real and relate-able. This series reads a bit like the 50 Shades Trilogy in regards to the kink so if you didn't like or were appalled by those books then don't give Banks' Rush Series a try -- you probably won't like it either.
I would describe the audio performance of this series as good, not excellent, but that's probably because I felt like Paul's voice made the men sound older than intended. This is a personal opinion, though, and I didn't take marks off for his performance because he did well in all other ways.
I am lost for words this is not like fsog or anything like it, In truth i wasnt looking for that, I am just lost for words on this one
it was just fluff!
disappointment so many ppl gave it high remarks, i guess i am on the other side of that
A better book.
It's possible, but I'd rather not.
Redeeming qualities.... Hmmmm... It helped me pass the time while doing laundry and made me feel like freaking rain man style genius.
No doubt this whole plot has been recycled more times than I can count, but I generally can get into the different versions of it and enjoy myself. I'm no genius but the writing of this book is painfully bad. I mean really bad. All the characters sound the same. They think the same, they even use the same expressions. I'm damn sure that if I hear the phrase 'damn sure' come out of one more characters mouth my head might explode. Reading this book made me think pretty much anyone can slap together a book half assed
with a few good BDSM sex scenes and make the NY times best seller list. I mean seriously, it reads like no one edited it for anything but spelling errors. Because I'm a sucker with time and credits to burn, the semi cliffhanger at the end meant that I'd have to give the second book a try. Story is definitely more interesting in the second book, but the writing still pretty chock full of nondescript stereotypes and is mediocre at best.
I could not even finish it....so bad.
Not anything by this author.
anyone else, he was almost awkward to listen to.
