I own this book in a hardback copy never listened till now and of all Ms Garwood's Books this one is the best story ever it has all good intrigued enough romance and funny situations that makes this story well balance the explicit language was required and well annunciation by the narrator she was never flat and use the correct sounds and made characters come really alive, this would be a great television mini series or an actual small budget movie, I hope that Ms Gardwood's next book that I will purchase has the same elements as this one, great story to listen, and for those people that will buy this book also I recommend the next book, that brings these characters together again and listen is also a great story is Kill joy, buy it you won't regret it.
Full Time Business Manager and mom to 5 boys and 1 girl, in every spare minute I have I'm reading or listening. I LOVE AUDIBLE
I really enjoyed the story and the narrator would be fantastic in any other book where a male southern accent isn't a part of the story... Esp a Cajun accent. Every single time she spoke as one of the male characters I was reminded of Yogi Bear saying"Heya BooBoo!! Get thata pick-i-nick basket!" It was so annoying in a funny way. I couldn't helping laughing at her voices even in serious parts of the book. Entertaining though. Worth an on sale price for sure, worth a credit as a story hands down!
Funny Tender Excitement!!
Meeting her brother :)
She is awesome!!!!! Accents were on target!!!!!
Yes - - - couldn't turn it off!!!!!
I'm a 38 year old Army Wife. My favorite authors are N. Roberts, Feehan, L. K. Hamilton, J. Garwood, S. Kenyon and D. Koontz.
Julie Garwood never fails. I've read most of her books, including all but a few in this series and have yet to be disappointed. I wasn't sure that listening would be as enjoyable as reading for myself but was pleasantly surprised. The narrator did a fantastic job. She was able to not only make the characters distinguishable but added the accents as well.
OMG! I've never wanted an ending to come so soon. The narrator was great but goodness the story was as slow as a snail and it's just unrealistic how long it took for anyone to catch on with the stupid club. And how the package was taken too. Pathetic. And they didn't even catch all the bad guys too.
I don't know, I'm just so unimpressed and that's just sad for a Julie Garwood story.
The story was great, but the narrator's male southern accent was terrible. Whenever "Daddy" was talking the volume and pitch went much higher than the rest of the narration leading to an unpleasant experience.
I enjoyed book 1, however, this one was very slow on getting to anything. After about 5 hours into the book, things actually started to happen. Before this though was about 5 hours that should have been wrapped up in 3. I found the Doctor very naive and aggravating.
I give this book 3.5 stars. The story was good but very slow getting to the point.
Because this story is almost exclusively dialogue and MALE characters who spend all their time arguing and plotting against each other, I was completely distracted hearing a woman's voice portraying all of those men.
This was the second or third Julie Garwood book I've attempted to read. The premise seems interesting, but I've finally decided her books may not be to my taste.
The pace was to fast for me. Between the speed and the accent I had to stop and go back to read the text to often. I'm.not used to that rapid fire speed. (Your narration started at one on my kindle fire. I forgot to see if it could be changed to a slower speed.) Also, I found the accent an unexpected un_necessary distraction. I have all my kindle books read to me in a male voice without an accent. The story's setting and dialogue immerse me in that particular world. (eg. In Victorian England the story has lots of "Yes, my lord" or "I will get your reticule for you, my lady." ... It's all just a matter of personal preference, I guess.
As this story is not my cup of tea, I have no idea.
I very much wanted to convey my concerns. Thank you for this opportunity. vr
