Greatly enjoyed this book. Loved the story, wish the Laird voice hadn't been so whisper breathy. Didn't sound so much like a big Laird. Book 2 in this series is amazing though. I have read this series so many times and never get tired of it.
Loved the book but the narrator was very annoying. All of the screaming was extreme and if the book hadn't been good I would have stopped it soon after the uncle's tirade. But alas, I muddled through since I spent the money on it.
I didnt remember purchasing this book but it was in my library so guessed I had thought it would be a good listen at some point. Where was I and what had I been drinking when I did? The story is nothing more than the old "dime store novel" and the narration is almost laughable.
I love Julie Garwood in general but this was awful.
The characters were not likable, the main character was vapid and weak, the narrator was awful. Boring Boring Boring.

I rarely seek out these historical romances but I have a huge fondness for Julie Garland's Highlander books. Enjoy, but the tartan colors were a creation of later day marketers.
Narrator does a fine job as well.
The male voices were a terrible combination of sandpaper/foghorn, the females high/squeaky. It would have been better if the SD had used something closer to a normal voice. The dialogue was acted well, but everything else was spoken in cadence rather than truly narrated.
Predictable storyline and horrible narration. I know that this is fiction and not intended to be "historical fiction", but let's try to at least use appropriate language and references. "You may kiss the bride" at a 12th century Scots wedding? The frequent use of the word "daft" reminds the listener that the story takes place in Scotland, in case the unbearable accent of the narrator didn't already lead you to that conclusion. The story was great, but the voices for all the women were very high- pitched and whiny. By the end of the book it had grown on me and I didn't notice it so much.
Two romance scenes would have been enough. It felt padded with the rest of them, otherwise a good read.
