I love fantasy and with children I rarely have time to read anymore. So I love listening to books while doing mundane tasks. but even they take some attention. That being said this book was full of action but lacking in plot. For me without a good plot all the action is senseless. Most of the characters were descent but it to me was to black and white. I found my self drifting off far to much, mostly because I realized if I did I wouldn't miss out on really anything of importance. To me the over chivalry was a bit taxing as well. it wasn't horrible but it was very far from the best and I have been through well over a hundred fantasy books. it won't be something I remember nor will it be something I'd listen or read again. But I will get the next book not so much out of curiosity but because unless it's terrible I like to finish what I start in book series.
This book is excellent, well-written, and a true pleasure to read. It will leave you wanting more. The second book, The Fell Sword, is even better. I am counting down the days until the third book is released in October 2015.
I would like to know when the next book ia going to be narrated. it is not cool to stop without completing the story
I am a lover of fantasy novels with exciting action, complex plots, and unforgettable characters.
I can safely say that I have found a new author to keep my eye on. Miles Cameron has provided us with a very solid series starter. This book has a complex plot with well developed characters, who seem to come alive as the story goes on. The thing that stands out about this book is the author's description of every intricate aspect of midevil life. I especially enjoyed his descriptions of all of the weapons and armor portrayed in the novel. I will warn perspective readers that the novel does change view points very rapidly, but I felt the change was smooth and didn't interrupt the flow of the story. There are a lot of characters to keep track of and this might be challenging if one is not paying proper attention to the story, but if one has the focus this is a great and complex novel. There is much violence, maybe a bit too much, but the scenes are well drawn out and the gore is very vividly described, if you like that kind of thing. Finally, the narrator did a fantastic job, especially with differentiating the many different characters. Overall, this book is definitely worth buying and I have already bought the second novel.
