Sad to hear this story knowing how painful it's been for this mother to tell it. Good sequence. I think it's a more clear picture of what Whitney's life was about, from the mother's perspective. I think many truths were hidden, but this is the story of Whitney's y s life after all. Excellent front cover picture. I chose audible, and although I wished the real narrator was mom, the narrator's voice sound somehow like Cissy.
This book was fabulously written, in my opinion, and showed the unconditional love of a mother. I don't car what criticisms are put out there about Whitney Houston, no one knew her and could love her as much as her family did. While we as fans certainly loved her and her music we will always cherish the gift that God allowed us to have in her music and her life. I give this book 5 stars for how beautifully and transparent it was written and how graceful it was read. Rest Well Whitney, we will always love you but we will see you again!
The name of this book should be Remembering the Sweet Inspirations and the career of Cissy Houston. It finally gets to Whitney, but only after many chapters about how Cissy's career started and how poor her had to give it up for her children. She was the one supporting everyone you know, no one would have made it without her.
Remembering Whitney was excellent. The story narrated by Robin Miles who I have admired as Ms Whitney"s business manager. The performance and the overall narration of Ms Miles was enjoyable. As for the story written by Ms Houston, it was excellent and informative. The entire book was remarkable.
I WOULD MOST CERTAINLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ANYONE. IT WAS SO MUCH MORE THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE, I TOTALLY ENJOYED IT.
THE WAY MS. CISSY WROTE, SHE WAS HONEST, FUNNY, WITTY AND LOVING.
ROBIN READ BEAUTIFULLY, I COULD IMAGINE MS. CISSY SPEAKING THOSE VERY WORDS. EXCELLENT NARRATION.
IT MADE ME DO BOTH, I'M A HUGE FAN OF WHITNEY HOUSTON SO IT TOOK A WHILE FOR ME TO READ THIS BOOK, I HAD TO PREPARE MYSELF FOR WHATEVER I MIGHT READ. I'M SO GLAD I READ IT WHEN I DID IT WAS RIGHT ON TIME, LEARNED SOME NEW THINGS AND ABOUT WHITNEY HOUSTON AND REMEMBERED OLD MEMORIES AND PERFORMANCES. SUPERB BOOK!!!
THIS BOOK WAS NOT JUST ABOUT WHITNEY HOUSTON'S LIFE BUT HER MOTHER, HER BROTHERS, HER FATHER AND FRIENDS AND CLOSE RELATIVES, IT GIVES A DEEPER INSIGHT ON THE HOUSTON FAMILY AND I'M GRATEFUL FOR THAT.
married, mother of 1 daughter, and grandson. Love to cook, sew, music buff, hard worker.
The truth, coming from her mother.
Cissy Houston, talking about her daughter with as much honesty as a mother can give up!
Not particularly, I found the entire book to be moving, emotional, truthworthy.
If you read nothing else about Whitney Houston, read/listen to this book!
I am a huge Whitney fan and it was so insightful to hear from her mother what she was truly like.
The only problem I had with this selection, is that Cisssy Houston spent a fair amount of time talking about her own life. I really did think that this would be exclusively about Whitney.
