The narration was superb. Made it easy to follow the characters, the storyline and to really get engrossed in the book. It was hard to stop listening to this book! I finished it in record time. Couldn't wait to see "who dun nit!".
Interesting character development. Really got involved with the individuals and their strengths and shortcomings.
This was my first experience with an Elisabeth Rodger's book.
If you like mysteries, you should enjoy this book and performance.
It was a good overall, I saw the twist coming early in the book but that didn't make me stop listening as I hoped there would be another twist, but there was not. Entertaining enough to listen to or read on the beach or while on the treadmill.
Yes, I like her style and pace. I would try another of her books.
This is my first Lisa Gardner novel, and it won't be my last. While the plot has some inconsistencies, and I guessed the final twist, the entire venture is well done. The story has a heart-pounding kidnapping as the opening event, with sympathetic protagonists, and good character development. I have to say that the performance is a bit dragged out, with too much "fake" Boston accents to be entirely enjoyable.
Here's the basic formula. Start with the perfect -- or as it turns out not so perfect family -- gradually expose there flaws and add a kidnapping with a keep you guessing plot and entertain the masses. It's all about fine lines -- is anyone completely evil? Is anyone completely innocent? This one kept me guessing for a long time. I found it thoroughly entertaining.
Yes. Good message while peeling back all the emotional layers.
When the daughter went off on her parents and put all their demons on display. Had me rooting on the daughter for her bravery and strength and "keeping it real".
The message was clear: it's not always greener on the other side. Nobody won in the book. The end seemed like it was not thought out all the way. Could have done more with the twist. Unanswered gaps as well. Overall, I enjoyed.
Good book. The plot was not predictable
It kept my attention til the end
reading style was understandable
feeling for the girl and her feelings
I didn't like the voices of some of the characters
Enjoyed the writing style and winding mystery. Didn't like the readers attempt at a Boston accent.
