The narrator destroyed what might have been a good story. I can not stand when a male narrator tries to change his voice to sound like a woman. I equally cannot stand when a female narrator tries to change her voice to sound like a man. Specially a really bad Boston thug kind of guy. Couldn't take it past chapter 5!Might have been a good story though.
Yes, if a different narrator is used.

I'm an avid reader who now listens to books on tape. I'm a bit late to the game but enjoying the hands free reading.
More intellectual dialogue and and less predictable storyline.
I am a fan of Lisa Gardner and was disappointed in her latest novel. The characters and plot line were predictable and too one dimensional. I don't remember that her characters were so empty headed nor that the dialogue lacked true feelings or any realism in her previous books.
I don't know that the characters needed to be cut. They needed to be stronger and more human. Empty shells speaking jibberish. Even the main detectives lacked much depth of thought. It was an easy crime that took too long for them to figure out. It was strung out for no good reason. The author's style made it easy to figure out who was the master mind.
Found this to be a great story that kept my interest. The test for me is finding myself looking forward to when I can listen, instead of just listening when I have time. This book passed the test easily. I also enjoyed the reader. Nothing is more distracting to a story than having it not read well; in this case it was very well done.
Tell us about yourself!
The character development was quick and good. As things move along you can kinda see what was coming. At the point of epic development I felt that it was a little unbelievable, but I can see why that was by the end of the book. The ending did wrap things up nice and tighty.
Moved along quickly and somewhat entertaining - I enjoyed Lisa Gardners book "Gone Girl" so I had hoped this one would be as fun.
Throughout the story I enjoyed the twists and turns LG took me through as I could not figure out until the end who had done it. Yes I had guessed it was this one or that one, but then something else would turn up and overturn my guess. I love DD Warren and Tessa Leone. DD is just the right amount of tough and "kind of" female (haha). Tessa just the right amount of compassion, quiet fortitude, and a toughness no one expects.
Each detail of the kidnapping in this story is very well sounded out. You don't have to wonder about anything happening. It is hard to stop the recording to go on to other tasks because you are so entangled in, "Wait, what is happening next/now/what just happened"!
Exhausting is the best way to explain how you feel once your done. But also exhilarated too. My heart was racing because it was waiting for who, who, who and also because it was revealed and I knew it had to be. Glad it was finally over, but trying to catch my breath.
Great book to read/listen to. Don't pass it up!!!
The story was fairly entertaining, but I had the ending figured out (more or less) about halfway through the book. I prefer a bit less predictability.
If you're looking for an "easy" read that doesn't require much thinking, this is your kind of book.
I upped the speed to 1.25 for the majority of the story as I thought the narrator spoke too slowly.

I would recommend this audiobook to someone who likes suspense. It keeps you guessing all the way to the end.
This was a definite page turner. I couldn't get enough. It was suspenseful from beginning to end.
My favorite character was the daughter, Ashlyn.
I usually listen on my walk but I started also listening while cooking dinner and doing the dishes too.
I LOVE to listen to audiobooks - the Audible ap is by far the best thing that's ever happend to my iPhone.
First Lisa Gardner book - and I really enjoyed it!
The book is a dandy - the suspense... the guessing of "who done it" - and the ending is not worth missing. I didn't mind that we found out who the villian was well before then end of the novel - I then focused my attention on rooting for the good guys to hurry up and catch the guy.
I would recommend this book - well worth the credit!! Performance was excellent.
This was an excellent suspense novel and thriller. More than once I literally caught myself with my mouth hanging wide open at the turn the story took. A great read all around!
I won't even comment on the plot - you'll have to listen yourself!
Libby Denbe - I always root for the underdog. She gets control of her life in the end.
Her Boston accent. Very good!
Great read! 5-stars all the way!
love to read
Yes, The characters are well done and it keeps you on your toes with the various character roles being read and played out at the same time.
When Tessa has the gun to Chris Lopez' head, and then realizes what is really going on!
no, but I plan too!
When Ashlyn Miscarries and Lilly realizes how out of it she has been!
