Best: Anatomical references (to chemical dependency reactions, injury descriptions)
Least: The redundant and tedious explanations of things that a reader would normally conclude on their own
Probably not. Perhaps if someone in the Simon Vance talent range read the book, I MIGHT give it a try.
No. It ended with a "twist" that anyone who has read a mystery before could see coming from the beginning. Because you suspect the ending in the first few chapters, you decide it must be a red haring, but the author does not develop other characters complex enough to solicit suspicion.
For a young adult (due to writing style, not content) who is in need of practicing synonyms, fears subtlety, and needs repetition for the easiest of points to sink in.
Also, the reader's "New Hampshire" and "Boston" accents will make you think that Murder, She Wrote's Cabot Cove residents were watered down. Although this does wake you up from the monotony every once and a while.
This was a good one! If you liked Gone girl then you'll like this one. The one down fall I found with this book was the "who done it factor" was pretty obvious about 1/4 into the book and you spend the rest of the book listening to how they did it rather than trying to figure out who did it. None the less this was a good one. I'd give it 4.5 stars if audible gave us that option.
No, I guess she writes mysteries. I really enjoyed this novel. It is a detective novel and the plot may be far-fetched although I read about similar plots in the newspapers.
I am not one to try and figure out "who done it" before hand, I want to enjoy my reading. I did have a strong suspicion about half way through and then something happened that thwarted that suspicion. Good characters, good narrator whose voice you'll recognize.
The Boston accents are a bit overdone - I have lots of friends in Boston, and they don't sound that bad!
I deffinately recommend this book. I usually only listen in my car, but I couldn't wait to find out what happened next.
I think these kind of questions lead to spoiler problems when answered.
This is my first one and I will listen to others now.
Riviting till the very end.
Avid audio book listener with over 900 books between my two libraries.
I don't think Lisa Gardner could write a bad story if she tried. The worst part about her books is that have to come to an end. She is one of the very few authors I actually go back and re-listen to. Even with the change in narrators this book was very well read and consistent with her previous narrators! Fabulous as usual Lisa!!
Awesome story! Definitely one of her best! Other than Hide, I think this is my favorite. Kept me guessing. Pretty twisted. Great listen, I definitely would come home from the gym and listen in the garage, and while doing dishes, etc. Great listen. I really like the narrator too!
I'm such a fan of Lisa Gardner & this book was exceptional! If you read Love You More, you'll recognize Tessa Leone & know her background. I really liked the strength of Libby in this book, and I'm happy with the continuation of Tessa & Sophie. I kind of suspected who was responsible for the kidnapping, but the twist at the end totally surprised me - I never saw that coming! Awesome book! I didn't want to stop listening - action packed & lots of great twists!
I felt like I was with the family the whole time and felt heart broken at the end
I have read so many books including all Lisa Gardner books. It reminded me of her book The Neighbor where she reels you in to feel so many emotions about the family .
She always does so well with the characters and doesn't seem silly doing the men voices.
The Perfect Family Gone Wrong.
Some parts of the book touched home and I felt like Libby was there talking to me about her life.
I already have recommended this book to a friend! I have enjoyed all of Lisa Gardner's books. But this one was especially good.
The woman who read this book was excellent. I would love to have had two readers, one for each of the two distinct parts. but it was a great listening experience.
A nice paced book, not real fast but just fast enough to say one more chapter and then one more and then one more..............
All the main characters were nicely done. I was not disappointed
It didn't make me laugh or cry, it made me want to root for the family involved.
I enjoyed listening to this book from begining to end.
