but his rant centers on The Bible, written by men, and Christianity, and organized religion, invented by men. Fine, but as is often overlooked, God may be something beyond the scope of our limited imagination and understanding, should there be a Supreme Mover Creator. To dismiss "God" is not deep thinking. To dismiss the probability of truth behind organized religion and The Bible is another. Call me agnostic.
Seth's story is very interesting to listen from perspective of someone living in a fairly liberal and atheistic country. That, and his voice is one of those you could listen to approximately forever regardless of topic. Great delivery.
As a recent "convert" from Christianity. It was very comforting to hear that someone else had the same doubts and fears. While listening to this book keep in mind that it IS Seth's biography so you'll hear a lot about the thinking atheist site and community (awesome source for info and community while struggling with losing your religion btw).
Matching socks is for newbs.
This audio book ranks toward the top of my life. Excellently narrated by one heckuva buttery voice. Could listen all day long.
Seth tells his story of leaving Christianity. He's lovable and relatable.
I like the title ... it tells it all.
As an ExChristian, I found Seth's story a comfort (I am not alone). His story is very different from my own, which made this truly fascinating. For those of us who have left the faith, we need to hear from others as the transitions out of religion can be quite taxing. I found Seth's story helpful for that reason. Well told, thoughtful and thought provoking.
Before purchasing the book, I was worried that the material would be a repetition of what I had already known from listening to Seth's podcasts and reading "Holy Cows". Fortunately, plenty of it was new and I enjoyed it very much! Seth drew a lively picture of his life before and after the deconversion, and I feel we have gotten to know him more as a person and an activist through this book.
Furthermore, the whole book had a refreshing and energetic vibe to it. It was a joy to listen to.
I've recently begun questioning Christianity. Seth's book really helped verify questions that I had. I didn't have a life anything like Seth's, but I was still able to relate his experiences to my own.
This hit so close to home I listened to the entire book in one sitting. The story is well written and the performance is top notch. I used to listen to Seth on his KXOJ radio show and to hear about his transformation in this book just made me smile. I would recommend this book to any Christian who has doubts about their faith or to any new atheist as a good intro.
I loved this book! I am a fan of Seth Andrews from his podcasts & the book only enhances my progress through my own deconversion. Thanks again Seth for all that you do😄
Delivered with facts, wit and humour that is hard to fault. especially when it is amalgamated with quotes from legends like Dan Barker, Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins. Seth Andrews presents a perfect composite of the 21st century story of man's journey from myth to reason.
