The begining was great...lots of little stories...but too much real life past that and I was wasn't looking for that...I was looking for mystery with Kinsey
I liked the little Kinsey stories at hte begining
To have all the short stories be mysteries that Grafton is famous for. One mystery short story was incomplete--I believe the ending was not included. Her autobiographical stories were extremely depressing with no mystery!
They were not all mysteries she is famous for!
Yes I would listen to Kinsey and Me again. It was a great insight into how Kinsey came to be. Enjoy the short stories - an then another!
Judy Kaye brings Kinsey out!!
Sue Grafton is very talented and I love that she shared a little about herself in this book. As usual i thoroughly enjoyed all of the stories. I also loved the narration by Judy Kaye
I enjoyed hearing about the "birth" of Kinsey. It was appropriate that Sue Grafton found Kinsey's name in a birth announcement .
She captures the essence of Kinsey's character. She is also excellent doing voices of the other characters.
I AM A BIG FAN OF KINSEY AND ALSO SUE GRAFTON, BUT THIS WAS SOMEWHAT OF A DISAPPOINTMENT. I'M GLAD I LISTENED TO THIS BOOK BECAUSE I ALSO AM A BIG FAN OF JUDY KAYE. SHE DOES A WONDERFUL JOB AS THE VOICE OF KINSEY AND ALL THE CHARACTERS IN THE ABC BOOKS. I AM ANXIOUSLY AWAITING THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES....W IS FOR ?
I understand Sue Grafton is avoiding the end, the end of the alphabet, but this one story per chapter thing is not the answer. Additionally, Kinsey and Me could have been about
the process Grafton has gone through-learning about this and that, referencing past stories,
but no, just tiny little stories that were over before they began. AVOID
Love thought provoking and well written mystery or suspense novels.
Sue Grafton novels are usually good for a laugh and some easy listening (or reading) about girl detective work on a budget. She is not Janet Evanovich funny and doesn't have the talent for character development that Janet has, BUT I do normally enjoy her alphabet series books in between the heavier mystery novels.
This particular submission has really missed the mark. I think that Sue Grafton thought people would actually be interested in the things here but it is not presented in an interesting fashion and the slow voice of Judy Kaye does not help the problem. She publishes at a pretty slow rate compared to most writers and maybe this was just "busy work" while she works on her next body of work. Next time Sue maybe you should just keep going on the next best thing instead of turning out this trash. Lawrence Block can publish shorts like this because he is VERY funny but you cannot never hope to fill those shoes.
Not only is this not worth the credit but it is not worthy of your time. Use your credit on a real story that won't put you to sleep.
