It's a time passer when you really don't have much else to do , and the story isn't all that bad . I really didn't care for the ending but I will continue listening to the series .
...But way better than the Bared To You series. These characters are not as messed up as the main characters in Bared To You. I enjoyed this listen a lot.
I Love To Read Books On Business, Making Money, Self Help And Many Other catagories.
It was a good book. A little hard to follow the plot. It kinda bounced around from the different character placed. But good book anyway.
"For the Love of Books"
I would probably try another book with a completely different storyline. It was too familiar to other great love stories that have a better spin on them such as FSOG & The Crossfire Series. Those books were brought to life by the narrator. This book died by narration it just was not done effectively by the narrator or the storyline. I don't know what it is but I know for a fact this was not it. I have tried to get through book one but it wasn't working for me.
Try a new storyline or find a better narrator, it's definitely missing something.
Yes I would be willing to try something different in the future but as for now I'm returning book 1 & 2. I purchased both because of such rave reviews but I will proceed with more caution in the future.
Overall good listen. Performance was about over the top/drawn out at times, but still a decent listen.
Sorry line is interesting enough to get me to continue into the next book.
The boom was gook. But the narrator was pretty awful!! She was so breathy and fake it really made it difficult to enjoy the book. I may listen to the rest of the series just to see what happens in the rest of the book but I must say I have been spoiled but Jennifer macks narration that anyone else is a tough sell.
Sometimes the narrator has a southern accent then she doesn't. She tries too hard to sound manly when she speaks from Sparks POV. The writer doesn't portray enough of his feelings and you are sometimes left wondering where the story is headed other then lusty sex scenes which are far too many.
I am an avid "reader"- I prefer to listen to books rather than read them due to the added dimension added by the narrator.
Jeez... I thought the Crossfire series was hot. This certainly gave them a run for the money.
The combination of the hot dialogue, fabulous narration by Sofia Willingham and numerous sexual fantasies and slightly kinky sex made for a very hot but enjoyable book. Other characters were also developed, and I was left wanting to listen to the other two books. Which I did. Wow.
I'm typically a murder, suspense, & thriller type reader; however, I'm expanding, exploring, & expanding my interests.
I would consider another book written by J. Kenner and Sofia Willingham.
Typical story…. The main male character, Damien, is rich and gorgeous. Story line is that Damien has had a thing for Nikki for many years. At a swanky LA party the reunite and the eye exchange between the two go wild. The story does touch on their past which indicates that it was dark and damaged pasts. It is also suggested (and I immediately could tell) that they are both very jealous type people.
The performance was GREAT, but the characters were not so great.
I gave it a fair shake, but I couldn't finish this book.
Nikki loves to provoke Damien’s jealous streak by engaging with her gorgeous ex-boyfriend. She also wavers between wanting Damien and not. In the end though they both confess how turned on they are for each other and start going at it.
Remember me saying this is a 50-shades wanna-be? Here’s a couple of examples of why. Damian requests Nikki reference him as 'sir' and must take commands from him. He finds pleasure in the fact that she wears painful, high heeled shoes because it means she can endure pain. If you’ve read 50-Shades, then you will be no stranger to the internal conflict and dialogue that Nikki has.
I couldn’t finish this book. It was so cheesy and the plot was absolutely ridiculous. I wasn’t a huge Fifty Shades lover, although I read them and enjoyed them for the most part. If you want true erotic type books-- consider books written by author Violet Blue. I have also found a few good reads from author Sylvia Day.
