I am sure if my time was well spent. I had mixed reactions/feelings about this book.
Justine's performance was OK.
I loved and hated this novel. It had many steaming sex. I enjoyed this portion of the book. I like most of the supporting characters. I loved Bryan Sinclair, the hero. He was sweet and super romantic. However, I could not stand Myrna, the heroine. At times, I found her quite annoying. I thought her feelings were really dragged out. Jeremy, the bad guy's character, was really weak. After all the build up through the whole book, his confrontation with Myrna and Bryan was really weak. All in all, it was an OK novel.
Missouri Mom with lots of Opinions! Love to listen to Audio Book Series!
It really surprised me! I wasn't sure about the whole "Rock Star" romance.
Brian ~ Ladies, he is the perfect leading man we all dream of. He wears his heart on his sleeve and he is a one women kind of guy.
I have not listened to Justine O. Keef before. I enjoyed her performance. She really brought the band to life.
I was trying! It made me want to listen to all in one sitting, however my schedule doesn't allow that.
I am more on the conservative side, so this book shocked me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the book at all. It was out of my comfort zone at times, however I like the characters and it grabbed my attention. The book is well written and exciting. This is the first book in a while that has made me yell out loud at a character (oops) LOL. Can't resist, so I will be finishing the Sinners series:) If you are sensitive in the least bit, then beware.
I wanted to like this book and I did like parts of it, but it felt a little bit like hard core porn in a lot of places. The was less character development and more explicit sexual encounter. There were subtle plot lines that, for me, would have brought me closer to the characters, but were abandoned. One example of this is a conversation in which the male character tells the female lead that he had bought her a surprise gift. Then, they shuffle off to a men's public bathroom for a tryst after which, we never hear anything further about the "gift that was purchased."
Most likely not. I just felt frustrated after listening to this. I like a good love scene (or love-making scene) as much as the next person, but this just felt like it was pushed to the next level over and over again to be shocking and different, rather than an attempt to tell a good story.
I didn't hate the characters. In fact, what I know of them is intriguing.
I guess, after the excitement over 50 Shades of Grey, there's a new genre where the writer pushes the boundaries of the love making scenes in an effort to titillate the reader. This book seems to fall into the genre. Not a bad thing, but something to know when you buy it and prepare to start listening.
Man is this one SPICY HOT read!! icon smile Audiobook Review: Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning I hate to admit this book has been on my TBR for a LONG time. I have the ebook, but I am so behind on my reading it will get read faster if I do the audio. There was an audio sale and BOOM, I had to get it. I seriously think I’m hooked on the Sinners now. LOL I already bought the next audio.
Brian was/is my favorite SEXY rock star that I’ve read to date. He was a total rock star but didn’t exude the douche bag feel which was great. He felt real.
Merna was a breathe of fresh air. She was nothing like any other heroine’s that I’ve read before. She’s HIGHLY educated and is a Professor of, here’s the best part, Sex Education. LOVE IT!!! I’m glad that she’s not a free loader, groupie because that would NOT have made for a great story. She wasn’t afraid to experiment (maybe a little TOO much at times). The chemistry was off the charts between Merna and Brian.
I liked hearing about life on the road with rockers. Each one of the band mates has a completely unique personality and I can’t wait to hear each of their stories. If you’re looking for a sexy rocker story, LOOK NO FURTHER!!
Narrator note: I thought that Justine did a fantastic job. I will tell you though that I had to speed the narration up to 1.5x speed (first time ever) because the pauses were just way too far apart for my liking and it was driving me nuts.
12 step program please. I am addicted to Audible! I love trashy sexy books, award winning novels and everything between. Bring it!
hot, sweaty, sex
Oh yea - serioulsy, If you are ok with explicit, exhibitionist sex scenes then here you have it my friends. Seriously, this book made FSOG look like a teaser. The story is interesting enough and the hook up scenes are really all that!
I really liked Brian - the lovelorn lead guitarist who always falls in love with the wrong kind of girl. He was sweet and let Myrna have her way and gave her the freedom both sexually and emotionally to do whatever, and I mean, whatever she wanted.
No, I needed to breath between chapters. ha!
Totally worth the credit! It's a hot read.
What can I say. The reviews were true. I loved this book and immediately started the 2nd book. I loved the characters. Overall the book has a story line and really, really hot, steamy sex scenes. I will admit that the narrator was a little off putting at the beginning. After reading other books I found her slow and she sounds older then what the voices in my head would sound. However, a few chapters in and she had me hooked. I think she is the best narrator for having to play 5 different male voices and making them sound masculine and all individually unique. You cannot help but fall in love with each character. I cannot decide who I like more. One book ends that then next picks up right up where it left off. This is worth the credit:) I really enjoy books that have an ongoing story line and I like the fact that all the characters show up in the other books. Once you start you can't put it down and you can't wait to find out what happens next. I also like that even though there is a lot of sex in the book there is still a plot and it keeps you wanting more. Enjoy:)
The behind-the-scenes look in the music industry was a welcome change in storyline from the cookie cutter romance stories. I love that every character in the story was flawed in some way which made them believable and interesting. So much better than the "perfect people finding each other" that is the basis of most romances. Mix that with laugh-out-loud humor and scorching heat between the sheets (or any other available location) and you have a winner. Looking forward to other stories in the series.
It's in the upper ranks of all the audiobooks I've listened to for sure.
This book is unlike any other that I've listened to so far--primarily because the whole 'rocker thing' isn't really my taste-- I'm usually drawn to either paranormal romance, mystery or contemporary romance. If I had to compare I'd say it's similar to any contemporary romance novel really. The storyline is about coming to terms with your feelings, letting go and living life to the fullest--with a side of really great sex!
No, I've not listened to any of Justine O Keef's other performances, but I will listen to her again. The pacing in her narration was a bit slow at times for me and I wasn't sure if it was intentional--if it was, I was not sure why.
Yes--not because I was on the edge of my seat, but, because it was really a cute story with some humorous moments as well.
I've downloaded the next book already--interested to see how things unfold for the band.
It ranks among the top. Though I'm not a fan of rock n' roll, I could totally imagine this band and all the sex episodes between them. It was crazy but I'm sure all this goes and and more with groupies on a tour bus.
Master Sinclair was my favorite. A hopeless romantic rock star who wears is heart on his sleeve??? You gotta love em'... The scondary characters were good too so I can't wait to learn more about the others.
No one in particular. She did a good job distinguishing all the voices.
It was funny, sexy, erotic, skanky, etc... all that rolled into one.
About to buy book two now.....
Overall, this book is worth a credit. The story requires a certain suspension of disbelief, such as how the characters get together in spite of their different ages and backgrounds, and such as when Myrna, a 35 year-old doctor of human sexuality is "shocked" to discover that Brian, her heavy metal rock star lover, has engaged in threesomes in the past! This after she has spent three months interviewing the band's groupies. But in spite of that, the characters are likeable and the sex scenes are steamy. I'll try more books in the series.
