Sydney Landon is my favorite author. I've read all of her books in both the Danvers Series and Lucian and Lia Series, multiple times. I've recently rediscovered my love for audio books, while walking back and forth to work each day.
First, Allyson Ryan is my new favorite narrator. Her voice is sexy and fluid. She grabs your attention from the first paragraph and keeps it until the final word. The voices of the characters that she quotes are done perfectly. She captures the spirit of the characters, including the men. By far, superior to other female narrators in the romance genre.
Second, Weekends Required introduces us to Jason and Claire, the first of many captivating characters in the Danvers Series. Sydney Landon masterfully brings us characters we can relate to, lust after, and let into our literary families. This series is well written, with just the right amount of love to make it sexy. But, you'll love the characters as much out of bed as you do in. They're hard working, family loving, fun to be around and very sexy.
You won't be disappointed!
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
What a cute book!!! This is one of those slow paced... sweet romance books... Nothing tragic happens....other than popping out of a birthday cake to stare into the eyes of your BOSS... while halfway naked!!! But other than that... Nope... simply sweet!!
Narration was great...
Good buy or sale... maybe save a credit for something a bit more raunchy...
I really wasn't too impressed
The Narrator drove me nuts, I think I have run across so many mediocre narrators lately that I am becoming immune. Listen to the sample before you purchase. The book isn’t bad, if you need a light fluffy read then get this one.
Lover of all books, especially Romance!
I will admit to liking more hard core but this story pulls the heart strings which adds to the listen. I liked the listen and those that like lighter sex/romance with more storyline will enjoy this book.
This book was completely predictable in the beginning, but not so much that I didn't keep listening. However, as it ambled along, the character of Jason got more and more irksome. Seriously, Sydney Landon? Men--heck, people!--don't actually act like that. And who would want them to? The dialogue was eh, as was the narration--supposedly both characters are native South Carolinians. Sure couldn't tell from the narrator's portrayals!
All that said, I did listen to the whole thing, and it wasn't offensive (there are a few narrators on my "never again!" list), and it kept my interest. The story, the narration, the characters--all GOOD, but not GREAT.
Say something about yourself!
It's a nice story but not well developed, I kept expecting things to happened relating you all the background story and hints. But it just ended abruptedly..
Narration was so annoying I wanted to quit listening. Thankfully I persevered. The story was quite good.
New to Audible, but already addicted.
Yes, I held my attention and had great detail.
The final connection they made.
Yes...very descriptive and steamy.
No spoilers! Love HOT, sexy books w/a plot. No vampires, paranormal, teens 4 me. I also review in exchange for books-lots of fun surprises!
It was o.k. My bar is set pretty high, I probably will not listen again.
No, not at all....I love this genre, it just took too long for characters to act on their attraction. The 'rich boss-starving secretary' has been done many times-there was not anything that made this one unique or stand out.
I love narrators and many times they make a book in genres I'm not particularly interested in (Historical Romance example McCabe Highland Series) draw me in.This narrator was very limited in her execution...subtle differences made for similar voices for all characters.
Got this on a $4.95 sale...I'm interested enough to following the rest of the series but only if I can get them at the $4.95 or better price. NOT creditworthy in my opinion.
NOTE: Adult themes-graphic romance scenes
