I don't give spoilers
How I love the Zombie Apocalypse. This is one of my top 10 series in the genre. If not all but most Zombie books are roughly the same. And many reviews on here will mislead you with words like (brings nothing new to the genre or unoriginal story line) which in turn pisses me off. There books about Zombies!!! If you change much more then Speed of the zombies or how they came about then there not ZOMBIES anymore. Alright that said Book 1&2 are great full marks If your a fellow zombie lover it's a must have. Unfortunately book 3 makes me want to puke, not that it's not alright, it is OK. But next to the first two books it looks like a steaming pile.
First books were awesome. This one was ok but I was not nearly as Engaged in this book as I was the others. Super sad about it. The anticipation of the wait and then the let down. Nothing like the first books.
I am living proof that the universe has a sense of humor.
The ending was horrible, rushed and did not make much sense.
Disappointment to have a really bad ending to a trilogy.
Great 3rd edition to the series
World War Z
Day by Day Armageddon,
yes, i vomited
I really liked the first two books in this series and have been chomping at the bit waiting for number 3, but this was a bit of a let down. I understand the need to change from 1st person to 3rd person to accomodate the plot, however either the author REALLY struggles with this change in style or perhaps the third person parts were written by someone else entirely. Almost every basic rule of narrative is broken. Way too much telling and not showing, too much explaining, excessive adverb use and generally awkward and unbelievable dialogue. It just felt like a young aspiring author trying to do 'too much'. There are small sections where he dips back into the familiar first-person journal style and it's like putting on a comfortable pair of shoes. Still worth the listen to see where the story goes, but not as enjoyable as the first two in my opinion.
The narrator really needs to know how to say things the chief of the boat would never say call me C-O-B he would say call me the cob, like corn on the cob. Also kunai is not pronounced right and Rangeley all places where I have been stationed. It just seems like the narrator of the book could get it right. Same with buds
Just a dude
Never read the print version. Though I would love to have backup book for when the power goes out :)
The action and sacrifice of his charaters. Also the touch of the real world issues.
Huck and Kill showed how broad his range is.
yup! Can't wait for the next one.
Keep em coming JL!
This is my first Review , and fairly so because i was SO DISAPPOINTED. I actually, like all of you, waited for this book impatiently for almost 6 months . After readin the first two in the series I had to label this as the best Zombie book since World War Z .
But then all of that fell apart, First off this book IS IMPOSSIBLE to follow , It jumps from place to place , without changing chapters . I was so lost about what was going on . That I asked for my money back .
I dont know what J.L Bourne was doing and why he decided to completely abandon something that worked so well , but I am pissed off , you made me us wait and now this book is no different then the other 2-3 stars around .
WHY WHY did you abandon a working Formula. ???
I don't know anyone that would
No it Hasn't
He handles the many voices well.
I didn't like how he departed from the original format, the ending was way too short and hurried. He didn't expand on Remote 6 (was really hoping he would do that). I was really disappointed in this book.
I'd listened to the previous 2 instalments and was really looking forward to hearing this final piece. Admittedly I did fall into the habit from listening to the first 2 if hearing a day by day diary from Kil however because the characters were getting to be many the writer accommodated this very well. Loved it, if you've read the first 2, then by all means purchase this final instalment.
Some of the technical data & comm's talk was way over my head but I realise this is realistic and needed for authenticity and many out there will identify with it.
Too many to say here..,
Yes!! I'm on the road doing long trips and this kept me really focused. When I wasn't doing long trips, I was hanging out, couldn't wait to go for a drive to listen to the next exciting chapter! My 17 year older daughter loved it also!
I just hope and wish J L Bourne has some more of this excitement to unleash! I quite enjoyed listening to all 3 instalments! Please keep them coming?
