Complex, intriguing and above all a very well researched book.
A great voice actor, capable of many diffrent voices and you know right away who he's acting.
Made me excited, very excited.
"A Typical Tom Clancy Story"
I sometimes get irritated by Tom Clancy's stories; the good guys are always good-looking, virtous and of impeccable caracter, the villains just the opposite. The Western World is normally saved at the last minute by the couragous heros and all is well.
But it sells and I have to admit that I normally turn the pages (or keep listening) as fast as anyone.
But it still leaves me unsatisfied at the end.
"Brilliant story and left me feeling unnerved."
Brilliant book read with real clarity but it left me feeling weird as in oh my god that could actually happen. It wasn't a book I could listen to while doing other things as I had to concentrate on the plot. Well worth listening to.
"Another fantastic book"
All the characters from previous books coming together again
Domingez is good but my favourite has got to be Jr
Yeap like all Tom Clancy books
Fantastic listen and would highly recommend the rest of tom Clancys books :)
Thriller, well performed, interesting to the end
John Clark meets his past torturor
Assault of the Campus
Cyberspace is everywhere
"Cyber war between China and USA"
Following on from Locked On, The Campus( an off the books CIA) now have to help save the USA from a combined cyber and military attack by the "Chi comms" or the Peoples Army. The story moves between several narrative strands culminating in a covert attack on Chinese soil. The story is far fetched and simplistic; China bad America good. Interesting concept but I found the machismo of Jack Ryan President and the Ryan doctrine irritating.Too much specific detail about miltary hardware guns and gadgets. Nevertheless very well narrated, by Lou Diamond Phillips. Overall a ripping yarn but don't expect any subtlety!
Listened to Locked On. Better story, equally well narrated.
When Jack junior discovers he is watched from a computer in one of the early scenes.Quite unnerving.
Yes action heros, with Harrison Ford or Bruce Willis as John Clarke, or Jack Ryan senior.
"more of Ryan"
Great to have more of Tom Clancy and Ryan. Have benn disappointed for a long time that the story may not be finished but once ange he has not let down his readers. Perhaps they do not have have the same excitement that the 'cold war' stories had but now the danger comes from another area anf even more leathal. During the 'cold war' the threat was always there but never happened but now the new threat is only too real, major attacks have happened and 'wars'. The fear is real and has been addressed by Tom Clancy where other authors seem afraid of giving offence. Enjoyable and thrilling.
This audiobook had me hooked right from the first chapter. Clancy knows how to keep his readers engaged. He's a master storyteller and the subject of this book is very up to date with what's going on in the world right now. I found the narrator interpreted the book very well, even when the dialogue commanded the use of Chinese intonation. I'd recommend this book to anyone that likes the subject of espionage and cyber attacks.
What can i say another great list from Tom Clancy and Mark Greaney. I love how the caertor have grow with the series and devlop. I can not wait to find out what will be install for operators of Hendley Associates, after the cyber attacks from china "the campus" go to war to stop a war.
It's not clever, or that original, but it is a great page turner! Really enjoyable escapism, and gripping (despite not being that original in concept).
