This was a fun listen. I'm ashamed to admit how long it took me to catch on to the mystery which only delighted me more once I had at least some of the motive figured out. It was farsical and therefore not meant to be overly serious.
All the characters are likeable and its set after the great wall street crash. It's interesting to see all the upper classess trying to redefine themselves in order to survive financially in a tough economy.
The narrator, Katherine Kellgren does accents and men's voices very well. You have no difficulty keeping up with the dialog. Her reading is not overly dramatized as I wouldn't like that but it's also not under performed. Her phrasing and timing add to the quality of the listen.
It's a great story and reader. I go back and forth between reading print and listening to audio versions of the Royal Spyness books. But I always enjoy the the audio versions. I liked the idea of the 12 clues of Christmas and didn't get it until the writer made the discovery, though I did get one of the murder's which is always loved that the long arch of the story was moved forward.
Besides the main character's I loved the dowager countess. She's such an old salt.
It made me laugh out loud several times.
I liked this book better than the last two combined.
it was very interesting and exciting book to listen to.
The leading lady.
I would recommend this to spy fans.
This was a light, entertaining story, perfect for the holidays. Great diversion for holiday stress.
Great performance ! Katherine Kellgren sounded like she was having fun with the narration.
Mother of three wonderful girls! I love to listen to audiobooks during my commute. Love to hear about any good books.
This book turned out to be much better than I thought. It was a good fun story. I found myself laughing out loud quite a few times while listening to this. This is the perfect light read.
This is a great, lightweight audiobook.......There's the collection of unrelated guests at a traditional country Christmas in a quaint little English village -- a perfect place for fun, romance, mystery, and murder. Katherine Kellgren again does a great job voicing all the characters and bringing them to life, and there's enough familiar in the story to keep regulars happy and enough different to keep it from being too familiar and boring. I think Rhys Bowen struck the perfect chord on this one.
Funny, lighthearted, truly enjoy this series
Gerorgie......Her grandfather - really all of them are well developed characters....Darcy
Queenie always doing everything wrong but showing up when its important.
Reminds me of a female Columbo, not quite put together, everyone overlooks, but he likes it that way, because in the end you realize just how smart he is.
I love the evolving plot between Georgie and Darcy!
Darcy finally telling Georgie he loves here.
I love all the recurring characters but Georgie is my fave.
The holidays have never been so dangerous.
Can't wait for the next book!
This cozy mystery series is well worth your time and money/credits. The reader, Katherine Kellgren, is fantastic and does a wonderful job bringing each and every character to life-- including the men (which is tough for many women readers to do). The mystery is intriguing and the characters are fun. I have not been disappointed yet by a single book in the series. This one is just as good as the others, but definitely read them in order.
Yes, kept me interested.
It was good
Crazy forest lady,
