The writing was sub par, using cliche after cliche, going on and on about the very same subjects over and over and ultimately offering no real substance for a cohesive story. I didn't know I was buying a romance book, but I'm sure they are better written than this. The books description made it out to be some kind of thriller. It wasn't, but I was still willing to give it a chance until about 1/3rd of the way through, when I just couldn't find anything enjoyable. I listened all the way through, but it never got better, only worse.
Shannon McManus wasn't too bad, but I don't think she really wanted to read this book either. I wouldn't avoid her, but I have no reason to seek out a performance by her because of anything in this book.
This book had no redeeming qualities. As I said, it wouldn't even be good as a romance novel. The interplay between characters was forced and unrealistic. There was no romance, no substance, only a writer doing a poor job of filling space to pad a book.
I don't like to bad mouth art. I like to keep it positive and find the good in everything. Sometimes people like weird things and more power to them... but I honestly don't know how anyone could like this book. Listening to it was like having teeth pulled... from my brain.
Better story line, better writing and more character development. I could see the ending coming a mile away...
This book had so much promise in the first two chapters but the subsequent story line was very weak and very predictable. The author over used phrases such as "blood ran cold" and spoke in cliches too often for my liking. It just seemed like the author phoned it in and added and gratuitous "lust" story in an attempt to keep readers engaged.
The reader was a young woman with a flat tone. She didn't really add anything to the performance of this book. Her scared voice was the same as her happy voice was the same as her lusty voice.
Not sure which one I would keep...
To potential readers: if you are looking for something light and easy to read this book is for you. If you are looking for something to really draw you in and give you an experience - keep shopping.
This was a great book. It does start off a tad bit slow but it picks up. The narrator was good,no complaints. All in all a very enjoyable book.
for sure...this book gives you everything!! no kidding... around about that...
how do you pick one part above any other???
I never single out one.. it is not fair to the book... or the reader..
maybe... there would be a lot of people that would go see it .... action brings in the people
I enjoyed this read .. it covered everything you want in a book... good story... great excape for the reader.. and you want to go to the end of the book to see what happens... GOOD JOB AND WELL DONE!!
The ending....it was cute I guess you could say.
From the begining of the book there was action.....You have to pay close attention because it can be kind of tricky....
Depends on the friend. Not a substantial story, so not for everyone.
Tray but he had several names through the book. He was a romantic.
Romantic with unexpected action
I read everything except inspirational fiction and horror. I love romantic suspense, Young adult, paranormal, fantasy and mainstream fiction.
Romantic and fast pace.
I'd buy another book from Ms. Robards because she delivers a good, solid story.
My favorite scene was Samantha attempting to get away from Danny and the marshals by ramming their cars with her Repo truck.
Lots of action and sexy.
I love to read and having books on audio is perfect when I'm out shopping or down with a migraine.
Loved the audio edition!
It kept me interested from the start to finish.
I can't choose..
The mother and son bond.
