Book loving grandmother
"Kevin T. Collins is an awesome reader!"
The books are very good, but they are made extraordinary by this reader.
"What a great Ending!!!"
I already have! All I can say is read these books you will love them!!!
(Spoiler) Do Not Read If You Don't Want To Know The End!! My favorite part was Ethan finally being able to be with Lena without worrying about dying, lol
Don't get me wrong they are both great! The only thing I did not like was it seemed like Kevin T. Collins had a cold or something and did not sound right. Over all though I don't think the books would have been Out of this World if it was not for them.
Yes!!!
"Love this entire series."
The narrator is very good at giving each person their own voice and personality. The writing and narration put together makes this book an absolute hit. I just hope that when the movie comes out the actors can give the characters as much depth as the author and narrator did.
I love the orginality. It is a story that hasn't been done. So many books are following the same line that their predecessors have and this book takes a whole new spin on the ideas of witches and other things that go bump in the night. It was a refreshing read with refreshing ideas.
I have not.
Reader, writer, teacher, consultant. I read mostly Young Adult and Genre Fiction, especially with a mix of literary style and commercial pacing.
"Least favorite of the series but satisfying end"
This series is one of my favorite audiobook series- listening really brings the world to life. However, I felt a bit let down after the tension of Beautiful Chaos because the beginning of BR moved slowly and was very reflective. BR is divided into three parts- they definitely picked up as they went along. I always enjoy the writing in this series, but BR didn't quite have the pacing the others had.
In the kitchen when Ethan tries to get Amma's attention and the crossword puzzle at the table with Lena and Macon.
I felt the others in the series were better, but I love Kevin T. Collins as the narrator. His narrating wasn't as powerful to me in this one though. I think it's because it was so much more focused on Ethan as opposed to the characters around him. Adding Khristine Hvam really gave Lena a solid voice. I love Khristine's work in YA audiobooks. She really does a fantastic job at connecting with the characters, and Lena was no exception.
Out of the darkness and into the light
Even though it isn't my favorite of the series, I felt it was a good send-off. I'm going to miss Gatlin and these characters so much. Luckily the movie is coming soon!!
"Great series!"
Yes, I would. I find that there is always something that you miss the first time around. And a second listen is just as or even more enjoyable.
"Absolutely Wonderful!"
The final book is as good as all the other books. This series was an absolutely fantastic read. I thoroughly enjoyed the way the story was written and flowed through all 4 books. I don’t often give books a 5, but this series would get much higher if I had the ability to give it a higher rating.
"Good End to Series"
I liked the dual storylines and how they played off each other. Sorry for the vagueness, I just don't want to give out any spoilers.
Lena never giving up on Ethan.
Ridley in the cage.
Is this the end?
I have really enjoyed this series and this book wraps up the series nicely. I have enjoyed the songs, which are so important to this series (Sorry, this is a bit generalized to the whole series.) I think this series is good for teens & adults. I've enjoyed it and I'm 40.
"Good, but was confused by the ending"
**possible spoilers**
This book reminded me a lot of Julie Kagawa's "The Iron Knight". I won't go into too much detail, otherwise it will add spoilers.
I definitely missed the togetherness of Ethan and Lena. This was the focal point of all the other novels, so it was hard to see a different type of angst. At the same time, it was a nice change of pace. I really liked seeing where the Greats come from - it's an interesting world with unique characters. I also enjoyed hearing from Ethan's mom. She's a central back-story character, so it was good to see more of her in this final installment.
I have to admit that I was a bit confused and saddened by the ending. I think I understand what happened, but contact me if you'd like to discuss.
Regarding narration, I love Khristine Hvam and Kevin T. Collins! I'm so excited the editors/authors chose to add Khristine Hvam to the story narration. I can always get into her characters.
Ok, yes, I confess. I'm another paranormal geek.
"Kevin T Collins is a fantastic narrator!"
I have loved this series from the beginning, and I believe a big part of that is Kevin T Collins amazing talent at narrating the story! He captures each character flawlessly, and brings the story to life in a unique way. He uses his voice perfectly to pull at your emotions... you feel the despair, the joy, the uncertainty. This series has truly been my favorite audio book series yet. I look forward to listening to more of Mr Collins talent. As for the Khristine Hvam, she handled the story and voices well, too, but I admit, after three books with a male narrator, it was difficult for me to switch to the new character voices from Miss Hvam. She did it well, but... it wasn't what I was used to.
Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl have created a beautiful world in the Caster Chronicles. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys YA Fantasy. They are talented authors! Give the series a try.
