I feel I can no longer use the reviews as a reliable guide. This book is terrible in so many ways. The story itself is a meandering pointless mash-up of fantasy, syfi, and offensive soft porn. An emotionally damaged 14 year old girl (presented as a courageous "super hero") only seems to feel whole playing the role of protector of the city. She is being lusted after by TWO older men who get aroused - described often - sometimes by just touching her hand. They both hover over her, threatening abuse and imprisonment, while very impatiently awaiting her pending womanhood so they can have sex with her. Further, she gets turned on at various times by a supernatural pheromone that causes her to strip, writhe, and moan for sex. Has the author or the editor read this?? As far as the storyline goes, I listened and listened and listened, backtracking several times thinking I'd missed something, and I have no idea what it was about. Add this to truly awful narration. Ms Ross' interpretation of Dani and her 14 year old personality, and the Irish accents overall are very bad. She and Phil Gigante are so completely incompatible you can literally feel the splicing. You've been warned.
Happily married, mother of four. The Twilight Saga rekindled my love of reading and began a new longing for romance with a paranormal twist!
I didn't think I would like it because Mac and Barrons were not the focus, but I loved it! Can't wait for the next installment hoping Mac will have more of a presence.
I have read and reread these books several times. I can't get over how they came to life in a different way when listening. The performance made it seem like I was hearing it for the first time.
I am a book addict! I get a rush beyond belief when I get to absorb myself into a new world. The creativity is boundless.
Most definitely! I really love Dani's character and was thrilled when she got her own book.
Dani and all her quirkiness. Such a confident individual. She's in no hurry to grow up and 14 is the perfect age to be. She pays attention to everthing but misses some of the blatantly obvious "adult" things going on around her. She's jaded and inocent at the same time.
I think I love Phil. Natalie is great too, but I haven't listened to anything yet that Phil has done that I just haven't been in awe of his talent.
When Dani lost it in Ryoden's office. I was right there with her every emotion. I ain't crying!
Fantastic series. Only days away from Burned being released!
Looking forward to Phil being JZB!!!!
Took a while for me to get into it and for all of the characters to be linked but overall it was a good read. Definitely not the best in the series but enjoyable. Loved the voices/characters on Audible.
Dani seriously just annoys me the feck out of me in the book. She is too young to be the main character in a YA book. She is so dense and immature.. The book was boring and WAY TOO drawn out. It is also very perverted that grown ass men are all getting their panties in a bunch over a 14 year old regardless of what she might be when she grows up. I am only trying to get through this book due to the fact that the next one should be released in the next week or so. But seriously what am I missing what makes this book so amazing?? I could and wish I did go without ever starting this crap
If Dani is the main character again, YES this book did turn off from the remainder of the series..
Seriously what were you thinking making Dani the main character in a YA book. She only 14 years of age. BRING BACK THE ADULTS!
I would compare this book to the Artemis Fowl books. This world has an active faerie world with an exceptionally gifted prepubescent main character.
I was initially annoyed by the main character. She is an immature cocky, exceptionally gifted 14 year old street urchin from Dublin, Ireland. I did not realize this was a spin off book/character from a well established series. It is evident that much has happened with this story/world to get to the starting point of this book. While I found the main character to be pretty annoying throughout the book, I do like the world and I think the story was well written, so I might try the first book of the series, and see how I like that.
