Quick, fun read.
Characters were well drawn--of course Connelly fans already know Bosch quite well.
The reader was ok, not quite as good as others who have done the Bosch books.
I love Michael Connelly but Michael McConnohie does NOT capture the Harry Bosch.
This has ruined the book for me.
Books with Jack Reacher
By having another reader.
No, I like separate Harry Bosch stories.
Revisiting one of my favorite characters. I really like the way Connelly has had Bosch evolve over the years.
Bosch's interactions with his daughter; his unwavering principles; his lack of fear of internal investigations.
There are two scenes that come to mined: 1) The quiet showdown with Lt. O'Toole when he talked about the pending internal investigation and the fact that he (Bosch) would be the one still standing when it was over. 2) The statement he made to the Sherriff at the last of the book when he told him he was glad he was still alive after the helicopter crash and glad that he would live the rest of his life in prison for killing all the people he did, especially, the girl he killed 20 years earlier.
A reckoning comes to all
Near the end of this book I was afraid that Connelly was making this the end of the series. I'm so glad he didn't and I look forward to the next Harry Bosch book!
This book is one of Harry's best adventrures-- keeps you wondering how he will make the connection !!
Detective Harry Bosh is the one and only person I would want on a case if I were involved--unless I was the criminal. Always sensative to current issues and ready to go to any and all lenghts to bring justice to ALL victims he has quickly become one of my favorites. Harry closes cases in spite of pressures from the brass. Not being politicaly motivated is also a feather in his cap as far as I am concerned. His personal background which comes out slowly is also endearing to his persistance and makes you feel like he's someone you would like to know. The narration is also very engrossing and entertaining. I would reccommend any Harry Bosh novel.
Hmm. Harry Bosch spent many hours in parent angst. Rather distracting to OK story line. No heart in this one.
Having read many of the books in this series, this was another solid entry and a pleasant read. A good continuation from the previous book, with less focus on personal development and a greater focus on the story (crime) at hand.
Love Michael Connelly books. "The Black Box" certainly did not disappoint.
One of Michael Connelly's best. Love the Harry Bosch character.
I would leave out some of the police procedurals. They were repetitive.
yes... I enjoy Michael Connelly's books. This one is not on the top of my list.
a good teller of stories
yes.. I listen in traffic and on long car trips.
