Not sure after this one
He just wasn't good.
throw the book out and start over.
Of course -- I ALWAYS buy Grisham's books...
He could have had his book edited by a competent editor...
It STILL drives me NUTS that the MATH didn't work out with the selling of the gold bars -- either he sold 100 for $122,000 or 50 for half that...
NOT 50 for $122,000 TOTAL at $1,220 an ounce...
This was brought up again at the END of the book -- and the SAME mistake was made...
I cannot OVERLOOK errors like this and I've STOPPED reading other author's books for MUCH less...
Come on Grisham -- Don't put out SLOPPY work anymore...
It is one of the better books I've listened to on Audiobooks.
This is typical Grisham and I love all of his books. The legal aspect is what appeals to me the most.
I loved Malcom Bannister and how smart he was through out the book.
I couldn't wait till I was alone in my car to listen...it was my special treat to myself
JD Jackson has an extraordinary voice..it kept me interested through the entire book.
The twists in the plot were interesting. While the story was mostly predictable, it allowed me to draw conclusions. Although my conclusions would sometimes be thrown right back at me with a great twist. Fun to listen to as I drive.
The main character seemed to be innocent and a forthright upstanding person. It was interesting to see the hardness of his resolve come to surface as his plan came to life. He was cold-blooded in a way. Something I could see myself becoming after being incarcerated for a crime I didn't commit.
All of them. He played them all very well and very believable.
Good book with very nice narration. Don't expect it to be more than a typical Grisham novel. But his typical novels are always worth the read.
I haven't read/listened to a Grisham novel is a while and I'm glad I did. Good story that kept me guessing, very good character development and satisfying conclusion. J.D. Jackson nailed the performance.
Grisham is a wonderful craftsman. His characters are more constructs than real people but I guess that is why we like this type of escapist writing.
Hearing Grisham attempt to put himself in the skin of a smart black person was an interesting strategic ploy aligned with the denigration of Federal government employees and institutions. One can't help but think that he is playing some kind of political game here.
This was one of the better books I have listened to. The storyline grabs you and you can't wait to understand how the events unfold.
Worth the listen
Vanessa answering the door.
First time I heard him. Nice voice with good character transitions.
I did it in three.
John Grisham does not let you down in this novel!
Great story from start to finish. Grisham did it again. Don't miss this one.
Buy this book
When the last word was spoken, I thought to myself that this is absolutely the worst book I've ever encountered. Then I heard the opening of the author's note and knew I was correct:
"This is indeed a work of fiction and more so than usual. Almost nothing in the previous 340-odd pages is based on reality. Research, hardly a priority, was rarely called upon. Accuracy was not deemed crucial. Long paragraphs of fiction were used to avoid looking up facts."
Clearly, the joke is on me for spending the money and the time with this pile of dung. Good one, Mr. Grisham. You got me.
If I could rate it a zero I would.
