Sucked me in from the first page and kept me interested
I listen while on road trips with my husband.....so it passes the time very nicely.
not really......not like some of Grisham's other works
Hope he keeps pumping these out...love the legal stuff he writes about.
I'm a huge Grisholm fan. That said, I downloaded this book as soon as it was available. I liked that you never really knew what was going to happen. That was fun. What I didn't like was the endless preaching about how BAD the government is. If I want a lecture on that, I can just watch the evening news! It was also hard to tell who the good guys were. It was an OK book, but not Grisholm's best by far. Just my opinion. . .
Maybe. It wasn't a "page-turner" for me, but it's not a bad book. Just others I would recommend first. Kind of a "back-burner" type of book.
Not as good as previous books I've read by Grisham.
Someone who uses character voices so you don't hear, "he/she said". That's okay when you are reading a book, but not when listening. Voice was too monotone. I enjoy narrators like Dick Hill and Susan Ericksen.
Would make a good "made for TV" movie in my opinion.
I don't usually read Grisham but after this wild read I definitely will It was very enjoyable from start to end and the twister at the end you will not see coming

John Grisham is a fine writer, no doubt.
The story is quirky enough to keep my attention and the twists are not predictable. I had quite a time with the main character as he seemed so duplicitous, But in the end he was revealed as just VERY intelligent,. His long term plan was brilliant. Yeah, I liked the book a lot. The narrator JD Jackson was excellent.
In a twisted sort of way the story reminded me of Marilyn Monroe in Bus Stop, playing a dumb blond that really couldn't sing and doing a masterful job of it,
I don't usually read or listen to books a second time
I loved his voice and interpretation
I am a Grisham fan, but this story is the worst. Add to this a reader who might as well be reading a book report. The story has the potential to be interesting, but it is simply boring. I tried to endure the entire audiobook, but finally had to quit about half way through. It was painfully boring.
I know that publishers have reviewers whose job it is to write positive reviewers for new releases I was sucked in, but hope you will not be.
Not with this particular reader
None I can think of
No... The reader's pace was consistently slow and almost unemotional...
Beach, Palm Tree, Good Book
A better story would have been nice.
Not much with this turkey
It was okay.
My husband and I began listening to this book on our way down through the CA central valley, a boring drive to be sure, so we looked forward to a good diversion from the monotony of the freeway and bleak landscape. We were both disappointed. After Grisham's last book, The Litigators, we were hoping he was back on track after such a long spell of boring, contrived stories. But this book is even worse than some of his "dry spell" stories. It's a shame because The Litigators was terrific.
