I've always loved the movies, but never read the books. This trilogy was recommended to me and I thought I would try it. The story is great, giving you background into the Sith history.
Jonathan Davis's does a great job.
I already have the next two books in the trilogy and they are next.
This was my first audio book ever, after this book I just had to hear all of the 3 Darth Bane books!
The sound effects at the background blended with Jonathan's great voice acting was just everything I could have hoped for a star wars title.
I just wish there were more of the Old republic era Star Wars books that was narrated by Jonathan Davis. =)
Love Audible!! Hope you all do too!
Yes! Am listening to it now. I'm always for the good guys. The Sith are not good guys, but in this first installment, after learning of Darth Bane's upbringing and subsequent hard early life, you're almost rooting for him to win!
Story line is solid, and believable.
All of them! J-Davis is truly a gifted narrator!
One of the top 3. The story was excellent and exciting. Never a dull moment.
Giddeon (sp?) was a ruthless Sith apprentice that had me fascinated by her character. She made real world decisions and didn't shy away from difficult choices.
Yes. All were excellent. The added sound effects and voice characterizations made for a even more lively story.
I wish I could! It killed me to break it up and only listen to it when I had spare time. I kept sneaking in listens here and there.
Get the entire trilogy! It was great seeing Bane's adventure from a nobody to one of the most menacing forces in the universe.
Darkside, Adventure, Prequel
Jonathan Davis delivers another great performance, definitely pick this one up if you are a Star Wars fan and want some Sith back story.
I believe in constantly learning. I believe that people have a phenomenal capacity for change. I encourage people that there are no limitations. Coffee is my vitamin C. I am a computer exorcist and sage.
Bane. He has been only referenced in the mythos for decades now. It's great to see this character come to life with such a depth. Well done!
Bane and the instructors at the academy. They were all distinct characters. well done.
Yes I did . I purchased it and literally listened in one sitting
This book is the essence of Dtar Wars lore anyone who loves Star Wars (such as I) needs to read/ listen to this book!
Of course it was. Never wanted to "to it down".
I had originally started reading this book on iBooks (apple app) and because of Johnathan's amazing performance I had to start over to hear it all again!
"Two there should be, no more no less. One to embody the power, the other to crave it."--Darth Bane
My top 3 moments
Revan's holocron and it's (brief) lessons we get to hear.
Bane taking the title of Darth declaring his superiority.
The fight with Kissem in the Rakatan temple.
Mr Davis does a tremendous job portraying different voices and different inflections for each voice. He is the best narrator of an audiobook I've listened to so far.
Darth Bane is Born
Jonathan Davis really makes this engaging. The story is excellent, from his mining kortosis on Apotros, to being a gloom walker, and then Sith apprentice at first and his road to Darth Bane is excellent storytelling. Drew Karpyshyn is an excellent author, and certainly made his mark in the star wars universe.
I really enjoyed the narration and additional sound effects. I think they added to the story nicely without being too over the top.
I have only recently started listening to Star Wars books. If there are more like this trilogy I may never listen to anything else again.
FANTASTIC narration. I think Davis did a great job in separating out the characters with their own individual personalities and the whole book flowed smoothly. (I don't know if it matters but I listen to all of my books @ 1.5 speed and I didn't notice any problems with doing so with this book.)
I would recommend all the books in this trilogy to anyone who is interested in the time between the old republic and the movies. Good story with some important lore.
Loved the different point of view for a star wars novel. Showed the sith as people not just just the raving bad guy in the black hat.
Bane. His character was developed the most being the central figure of the novel.
Bane again. I loved he slight english twang to this particular voice
I enjoyed this book very much but no tears or lol's
The voice acting was spot on. Just enough of an accent to differentiate the characters without being distracting
