I liked the characters. They remain constant and as crazy as ever but there didn't seem to be as many antics. Stephanie was as klutzy as ever but the antics seemed more mean spirited. I think I liked the guy looking for the Tiki cause he was so pathetic...altho he did get a ticket back to Hawaii.
I compare it to all the other By the Numbers books. Each book has a different activity going on but basically they are all the same. If you like Stephanie Plum in 'One for the Money' then you'll like her in 'Notorious Nineteen.'
By the way, I liked the movie and thought the actors portrayed the characters quite well.
Lorelei King hit a home run as she always does. she has such a perfect voice for these crazy heroines. I liked her as Stephanie just as I liked her as Mercy Thompson in Patricia Briggs books.
I think it was the guy chasing the Tiki....he was funny and sincere and he wasn't trying to hurt he, he just wanted his Tiki back.
I just like all books written by Janet Evanovich. Keep 'em coming.
Next year when i'm hard up & starting a series over. Things happen to Stephanie instead of Stephanie happening to them. Not sure why our usual plucky persistent heroine hangs back on solving the mysteries and kind of has to rely a lot on the chance luck backup of Rangeman to rescue her. usually she does more to save herself but in this one she just doesn't try that hard. LuLa is hilarious as usual and all favorite folks are doing their usual bit but when Grandma Mazer says "I solved the mystery," she's not kidding. It's like maybe Janet got a little bored and wanted to expand the secondary folks & give them a bigger part in the resolution instead of Stephanie. Don't get me wrong, I'd still recommend the book, especially to die hard fans of the series. You don't want to miss this one, but it just aint the best one of the bunch. However as I had not had a Plum novel fix in a long time I was really happy to go back to Trenton & the bond office and tag along with Stephanie and Lula in the Buick and I definetly roared with laughter during the listen and I am glad I got it. and I look forward the #20 and fully expect it to be spot on as so many of the Plum books have been. and i look forward as always to the eternal Joe vs Ranger dilemma....why choose? keep em both!
haven't though to search by Lorelei King, thanks for the suggestion. Though like Jim Dale and Harry Potter books, Lorelei King will always be Stephanie Plum to me just as Jim is Harry Potter! However I will give it a try.
Lula was really the biggest laugh and strongest draw in this one.
Keep em coming!
As usual, I loved Janet Evanovich's latest book, Notorious Nineteen! I enjoy all of the quirky characters and am happy to see Stephanie getting closer to making a commitment to Joe!
All of the other books, 1 -18 as you feel you know each of the characters.
Her voice sounds like you think Stephanie Plum's voice would sound and it is nice to have her read each of the books.
Lula and Grandma Masur always make me laugh!
I cannot wait until 20!
Yes I enjoyed the performance very much, the characters are creative. The story is silly sexy and fun,
Yes for fun
The interactions between the main characters and her male friends
It was silly and fun, pure escapism
Yes. It's a guilty pleasure.
Yes, again, guilty pleasure.
Oooh, tough one. King is a character master. Lula would be hard to top, but what she did with Ranger was excellent interpretation.
Yes, I am inspired to prompt Janet to bring the series to a close. She just doesn't appear to have the passion for the characters so prevelant in the earlier series. It's only six hours long.
Janet, it's time for some closure. Out of respect for a very loyal fan base, go out with a bang- tucked away nicely please.

As with all Stephanie Plum novels, you know what you're going to get. Wacky characters, harebrained schemes, outlandish outcomes, but all in all extremely entertaining and with an actual story line that, surprisingly, holds together despite the mayhem.
It's more of the bumbling Stephanie that we all love! The only thing I wish is that they lasted longer. I'm finished before I know it and waiting for number 20!
Lula always is my favorite, her voice and her attitude make me laugh all the time.
I want Stephanie to get together with Ranger again!
Liked: familiar series.. Least: overly silly.
A REAL person from New Jersey because there is a specific attitude and accent that the Stephanie Plum series claims to have.
Such a boring listen. Very difficult to stay interested. So much better to read because the narrator is like an assault on my ears!
Having listened to/read the entire series, number 19 was predictable but still a fun listen. Stephanie is such a believeable character and so funny!
If you liked the first 18 you'll probably like this. All your favorite characters are here, Stephanie is in all her usual messes, it will make you laugh. Lorelei King is wonderful. I love her voices. However, the entire book is just a few hours long and the story line is very simplistic. But then, we don't read these books for intellectual stimulation, do we? We read them for fun and this book is fun.
