I bought this going by the review. The story was interesting, but what really put me off is the amount of expletives/four-letter words liberally sprinkled throughout the narration.
It really marred any possibility of me enjoying the narration as I don't live in an environment where expletives/four-letter words are used so liberally.
I suggest Audible warns members/listeners which books are full of such four language.
The story was weak and the language and the sex was apparently added to keep some people entertained. This was the first time I listened to this author and it will be the last. The idea behind the story was absurd to begin with and adding the sex to the story did not help.
No, but the author,yes.
I tend to associate Linda Howard with suspenseful romance. This book had great suspense, but the romance didn't hold together.
It's a good book, but I wouldn't recommend it to my romance readers.
She does a really great job portraying a tough, confused character who finds herself in an urgent situation. Her voice is exactly right for this story.
Interesting characters, an interesting story, a twist... all would have been welcome.
Mystery. I've enjoyed all her other titles that I've read. Made this disappointment very surprising.
Not on purpose. More than any other author I find the narrators of Linda's book are not my favorites. I almost stopped listening but thought that surely the story would get better and the mediocre narration wouldn't matter. Should have stopped listening.
I would have sent the whole manuscript back to Linda, told her to pitch it and start again. She can do soooo much better.
I hope this title is the exception and her next book will be back to fabulous. Maybe this title is a reprint of an early, less experienced work? That could explain the echo where the story should be.
I'm a librarian, knitter, crochetter... I love audiobooks because I can knit and "read" at the same time.
I missed the explanation for somethings like: what happened to her boss and best friend? They were part of it all too? And so on...
But, in general, it was a fun book to read.
The total unbelievability of the plot line
She did well with what she had to work with.
Will strike Linda Howard off my potential reading list
I am a 62 year old mail carrier who has had her sanity saved by audiobooks
someone who has never read any of the other books by linda howard
yikes!!! taken a vacation maybe? do not get me wrong... i LOVE linda howard... but this is just terrible in comparison with most of her others
performance was fine,,, u cannot make a sillk purse out of a sows ear
no... sadly, not really
I love Linda Howard. I would probably buy more of her books, but with more caution.
The character Xavier was more what I expected and didn't disappoint.
Yes. She does really well.
I expected this book would be like the movie "Long Kiss Goodnight" with Geena Davis. The character Geena played was what I hoped Lizette would be like. The storyline never developed and completed nice and neat, no fuss no bite.
Imaginative. Often funny. As good as the best other Linda Howard novels . Lizette has creative adventures. You will want to read this. Worth the credit.
