Timothy Zahn is truly the best Star Wars writer around. His additions to the expanded universe have made it vibrant and incredible to explore, and this book is no different. I loved the story; it is always great to see Han and Chewie galavanting their way about the galaxy, and this is a fascinating side to their career.
The production quality, however, has made this audio version about the best audio book I have ever heard, with a full set of sound effects, good use of music from the films, and a distinct voice for every character done quite well by Marc Thompson.
I absolutely recommend this audio book to anyone who loves Star Wars.
Another entertaining novel from Timothy Zahn, Scoundrels is the tale of an Ocean's 11 style heist undertaken Han, Lando, and some original characters. The story and characters are engaging and it's hard to put this book down (or turn it off). Marc Thompson's narration is solid, and he pulls off the female character voices here better than in some of his other works. Unfortunately his Han is too exaggerated, but that's a minor gripe. I would definitely recommend this audiobook.
Marc Thompson is an amazing narrator and Timothy Zahn a great Star Wars author. The story in this book is slightly less captivating than the Thrawn trilogy.
It's just as great
It made me laugh.
This is a nice immersion in the Star Wars world without all of the fuss about jedi and the force. The story is basically Ocean's eleven (in a good way). It has the suspense, the twists and turns and interesting characters.
I only rated 4 on the story because it's not Thrawn trilogy captivating and the concept feels a bit copied but Zahn is still providing a good story.
I've listened to at least 20 star wars books and this one isn't worth your time. Marc Thompson does a great job as usual but the story was super predictable and filled with almost zero action.
A straight-tailed slick-Hog knuckle dragging mouth breather; and proud of it!
Unfortunately the best part of this book is the narration. 5 stars for Marc Thompson who does an amazing job with the voices. The sound effects are a bit annoying and I (kind of) got past it, but it knocks the performance grade down a star.
As for the story, others have summed it up as Star Wars meets Oceans 11. That's very accurate. There are some fun twists and interesting gadgets but I could have used more story substance. All-in-all it was just okay.
The awesome Narrator
Lets be cool
This book was a very enjoyable book and to follow along with the audio provided a next level experience for me
Fantastic adventure that exisits within the larger Star Wars Universe without being held back by previous (and mostly bad) EU stories. Marc Thompson is always a treat.
