Patterson pieced 2 different stories, both Christmas related, in one book. I was really disappointed when I figured this out, at about the 6 hour point. Both stories live up to your high expectations for Patterson, but the overall feel is just disjointed. I really wish both were better developed separately.
I love the Alex Cross series and will continue to listen, but this book was too chopped up for me. I don't see the point in the two storylines, why couldn't it have been about the hostage situation and not about the terrorist. I didn't get that, why speed through one story line just to go back to another one, I was rather confused and irritated. It wasn't realistic, how many things could go on on one Christmas. The first story line made sense, but the reason they introduced the second, made no sense.
It was ok, pretty predictable, no surprises
Definitely the emotion. You get so involved that you forget that you are listening and sometimes react out loud
Follow up to what?!?!?!?! How can you follow up something that was concluded
I would highly recommend this audiobook to all die-hard Alex Cross fans. Alex faces his biggest challegne now that he's married. He pushes the envelop in this story...almost made me want to slap him, but in the end, you can remember why you feel safe with Alex on the job.
My favorite was the snow plow scene, after Alex was shot. Struggling to get out of the way of the plow, I felt like I was right there. Got my adrenaline rushing!!
"Not again!", everytime he's with his family and gets that call.
If you love action, mix in a little intrigue and just a sprinkle of family love, you will love the Alex Cross series. Each book is better than the last. Enjoy!
I have only listened to this wonderful story about Alex Cross.
You actually feel the cold, the snow and the ice from all the characters. This i think would be missed in reading it myself.
This audiobook was so entertaining with lots of sound effects, etc. There were also several readers to give effect to the various characters - it was very enjoyable.
This book seemed a little sloppy. Easily resolved problems and no reason to get involved.
I usually love James Patterson and his co writers, but this one was not up to the standards I am used to.
Definitly not. One was more than enough.
This is a very good read. Its fast paced and as usual with Patterson has twists and turns .
No, I didn't like the voice of the reader. I guess I expected Morgan Freeman!
A Must Read
Yes it did. Like all James Patterson books, this one also flowed from one situation to another before tieing them all together for a fabulous ending.
narrators bring the story to life.
it made me laugh and cry
The pace of the action throughout the story, never a dull moment.
Had not listened to any of the narrators before, but was familiar with one of the actors (Michael Boatmat) and was very thrilled with how well they read together.
The relationship between Alex and Sampson always makes me laugh.
