This was my second Drew Karpyshyn book and third Marc Thompson narration. Annihilation was an exciting spy tale from the Old Republic. The blend of characterization was perfectly balanced with great action. Theron Shan is a fascinating lead with interesting parentage, who is funny, heroic and lethal. I also loved how human this book was. Injuries abound and are treated realistically and this book has twists and turns you won't see coming. Marc Thompson's superb narration makes this so enjoyable. I both read and listened to this book and the production was fabulous. I adore his expert voice characterizations, it is a joy to just sit back and immerse yourself in this universe. I hope we see more of Theron Shan, I would love to see more of his adventures. This would make a great spinoff movie series as well. Drew Karpyshyn has become one of my favorite Star Wars novelists along with James Luceno. He creates wonderful characters and interesting situations.
Out of all the Star Wars books that I have read and listen to, this is got to be the funniest book I have ever had! There a few scenes in here that are hilarious. To me anyways. There's one scene at the end where Theron waves his fingers in the air and asks his Jedi companion (I forgot his name) to use the Force. And he replies "the force is not as easy to use then you think!" And don't get me started on the Twi'lek...
So definitely give this book a try, in my opinion!
very good story. listen to it on my way to work everyday and found myself sitting in the car in the parking lot of my work because I didn't want to stop listening
Absolutely love Mark Thompson. His performance throughout the Fate of the Jedi serious was amazing. He really makes the books enjoyable. I was a little disappointed with how this particular series ended though. It felt a little anti climactic. I struggled a little bit towards the end to get through it.
