I am really a fan of James Rollins but this just did not work for me. It is the first purchase from audible (and I have several hundred titles in my library) that I will not finish. I am very dissappointed. I did not like the narrator and I did not like the story. I listened for over 4 hours and was just not inspired to waste my time. I found myself listening to other titles rather than going back to this waste of my money.
Listening to books is the way I separate from the stress of being an attorney. I enjoy fiction, mystery thrillers, an occasional romance, and books about cutting edge medicine and science. I was a History major so that is always interesting too.
No. I liked it and it was well-written, but a little to far into the vampire thing for me. I usually never pick vampire books on purpose, they bore me.
I listened, so this may be misspelled, Roon....the kick butt Sanguines.
This is where the audio version tanked. The guy doing narration mispronounced almost all of the biblical places like Caesarea, Caana, and others. He even mispronounced items. It nearly drove me nuts. The only thing worse was the dialect/accent choices that ended up sounding not Italian, as in purely Italian, but something between a Brooklyn accent and a Chicago mobster! Jeez. Get someone else if you can. I am a history major and have a theater background. Replace him.
Like that man from Texas! He was interesting.
Liked the way the historical aspects are woven in with the biblical. Just simply fasicnating.
First time hearing this author, not a bad job but i must admit to being a Scot Brick fan.
Cant await for the next installment.
I love to read books but due to vision problems it is very hard. I have fond that listening is almost as good as reading them for myself.
The print version was great as I can see in my mind the people and the places, but the audio version was well read and the sound was good
This story has intrique and a small amount of romance. The main people seem well developed but there is still more to discover about all of the people. The back ground people will allow for more people to brought to the forefront. The ending was a total shocker
well read and enjoyable
I like James Rollins and anticipate his books with pleasure. That said, don't waste money or credits on this one. I don't know if the co-author wrote this one or not, but it's horrible. The plot has no purpose, no goal that is believable or strong enough to justify the action and events that happen. A level of suspense is non-existent and the book was easy to put down and could have been forgotten forever. I'm not wild about vampire books, I'll admit, but in the hands of a good author, I could be persuaded to enjoy them. This is not one that I enjoyed. Although I read 90% of it, I did not finish the book because I really didn't care and the ending was obvious. I am an avid reader and almost always finish just for the pleasure of reading. This book couldn't even sustain that. Use your credits to buy "Going Clear" instead. Fantastic book!
When the characters visit the bunker in Germany.
I haven't. But he is amazing, he adds effects to the different character voices which makes listening very enjoyable and differentiating.
I wouldn't know.
Drives a Semi-truck with my wife and we drive all over the country. We both listen to books while we drive. We like takes Cruises and visiting New York City.
the good isn"t always good and the bad can be very bad
time in the motel after the snow melt filled lake.
yes the healing of a sick boy
This story was great! It has the crisp, action-filled style that mark James Rollins' work. I have never read anything from Rebecca Cantrell before, but my hat's off to her too! The two writers have woven their tale well and the narrative seamlessly blends their voices so it all sounds like one writer. The story combines history, adventure, ancient artifacts, and an added bite. They've thrown good and bad vampires into the mix--only this one is written for adults without all the angst of young adult novels. Quite a bit to pack into one story! I can't wait for the next in the series.
