A Memory of Light is the best book I have ever read. The way it takes the enormous interpersonal complexities amalgamated throughout the previous 13 books and wraps it up while playing with expectations and yet losing nothing is baffling. I cannot sing praises loud enough in regards to this piece of fiction. All that I could say wouldn't be enough and in the end all I can do is smile. It is truely a masterpiece. For those not yet familiar to the Wheel of Time I say this: read it and find out.
I LOVE audio books. I drive 20 hours per week on average and use that time to listen to books. I love long books, and multi book series.
This was an awesome finale to a long complex fantasy series. Each book was 40-ish hours long. This book is a worthy end to a great series.
The ending was unexpected and perfect....
The performers did a great job using tone, inflection, and accent to help develop the characters. They also met the challenge of growing with the characters as they aged throughout the 14 book series.
The early books in the series feel a bit like "young reader" material, however they do mature as the series goes on, adults don't give up because this is a wonderful, complex, moving story.
complex, involved and memorable. these are all words I would use to describe the last book of the wheel of time. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and think it was well written, planned and narrated. a treat for anyone that makes it this far in the series.
Tell us about yourself! Hated reading books. It wasn't till I found audible that I found how great books can be.
Sometimes after finishing a book or series of books you wish there was a little more to quench the thirst of emotion you received after listening to them. I found with this series I was always waiting to listen to more, always thirsty to encounter more stimulation through the minds eye. I don't know of any way that this could have been done better. Very well done.
I really enjoyed the Wheel of Time! This was my 3rd attempt to work through the entire series. Finally made it through all 14 books thanks to the help of Audible. I can hardly believe that Rand, Perrin, and Matt's story is finally complete.
While the series is long enough that I am almost ready to start from the beginning, this book ended it well enough, especially considering the extraordinary circumstances.
Without giving away any spoilers I would just like to say that the ending was definitely not what I was expecting. I don't know if that's good or bad but it was definitely worth the time it took me to listen. It definitely seemed like it left a lot of things open, which I'm sure was intentional (there are no beginnings or endings to the turning off the wheel of time).
Overall, I would highly recommend the entire series.
