Like a literary version of “Iron Chef,” Sylvia Day (Crossfire series),*OWNS* E.L. James (Fifty Shades series). Sylvia Day uses the same basic ingredients: genre of books, demographics of characters, familiar story line, target market of readers) to demonstrate how *truly* skillful writing, elegant, deep, worthy-of-caring-about character development, artistically, well-constructed and timed plot development (similar to my favorite (Diana Gabaldon - "Outlander" series) from my preferred genre historical fiction). Ms. Day demonstrates a far more mature, skillful hand at the judicial and relevant use of heart-stopping, synapse-melting, um, er…”provocative and engaging literary devices" as well as a 10,000% better choice of a more gifted and professional narrator in the audio (Audible.com) version. These are intense page-turners, with ample sprinklings of opportunities to relieve the tension by laughing out loud and sharing introspection with the flawed, funny, complicated, engaging, and sympathetic characters. Just don’t listen and drive; you’ll find yourself driving off of a cliff. Maybe while running on a treadmill? 9-) Just remember to breathe. (Not for those who are uncomfortable with some explicit sexual situations or language, even though it is well done and critical to both character, plot, and conflict development). Highly recommended. Well done.
I still want to see what happens in book 3 - but it does seem as though book 2 was more of just treading water until we got to book 3. Why not go ahead and move the relationship forward in book 2 instead of just going through more of what seems the same as book 1?
Yes, as I said will still want to see what happens in book 3 but will probably wait for it to go on sale.
Narrator captures the characters well.
There are things that it seems should have happened in book 2 that will now have to wait for book 3.
Say something about yourself!
I Book two of the series was just as good as book one. Eva and Gideon relationship is strange since they mostly communicate when having sex and they both have issue they need to work on. Gideon Finally opens up to Eva about what happen to him as a child in the last few Chapters. Can't wait for book three I am addicted.
Gideon & Eva's relationship is crazy but so addictive! I could not stop listening to see what would happen next
No first time but won't be the last, her male voices are not the best but her fluidity and emotion make up for it
The last chapter! The extent to which Gideon is willing to go for Eva
Can't wait for the last on "Entwined with you"
Its a good book but there are some others that top this one. But over all I give this book a 4
the part where there in the elevater
I enjoyed the real life issues and characters this book works on. Obviously being rich makes it easier, but life is life.
Looking for the next one.
It was very good. I would read it again if I had it to do over.
The characters really make you feel for them even though their psychological issues can be a little frustrating sometimes. I often wanted to shake the female main character and tell her to BREATHE and be rational lol.
I didn't really enjoy her reading. It was very breathy and I found her male voice to be extremely overdone and annoying.
It made me laugh but not cry.
This drags out and holds the reader hostage for a truth that should have been told to reader about Gideon in book one. I got so frustrated with this book it took me more than a month to make myself listen to it in it's entirety. Worse than the first installment and the return of the "C" word with a vengance that left me livid more times than I can count as I stopped the book and walked away from it for days if not weeks on end. I'm sure in print it isn't that bad but for me it's a deal breaker. A much less vulgar noun would have made this book a 3 star story. Can't recommend the series. Give me the last hour of the book and I'd have been much happier than being forced to listen to the 18 plus hours in the two books that lead up to the big revelation.
Save yourself the frustration and go snuggle up with Christian and Anna.
OMG.... this is the best series. It has captivated me from the beginning. I can't wait for the third book to come out in May 2013. I don't know how I will be able to wait that long. The story line great, you find yourself wanting more and more. I couldn't quit listening to it.
Yes I would and I have. I have read Sylvia Day's Crossfire Novels Book 1 and 2 within 24hrs of each other. I couldn't get enough. Each page left you wanting more.
Yes and I did.
