I was hoping this would be a Patricia Cornwell come back....it was disappointing.....It was a chore listening......I found that the beginning was a tedious long and boring dialogue with much to much description of things that did not really matter....did not enhance the story line, or encourage one to continue the book......it was really hard for me to continue, but I kept hoping it would get better.........
The monotone of the narration did not enhance the experience......
I will not get caught again !
Story fell flat in the middle and I felt that the ending was abrupt.
Not as good as her previous novel Red Mist.
I have read all her books but this one just wasn't up to standard.
No, I will read new books that she writes
Am A. Hag
Enjoyed this continuing saga, but it's not one of her best. Will listen again as I start the series for the second time.
I've been a fan of Cornwell...and Scarpetta...for many years. I'm not sure if I can say the same after Bone Bed. It's hard to say how much the narrator's interpretation of Scarpetta and other key characters affected the way I experienced this story, but I found Scarpetta moved from flawed (but brilliant and admirable) to unbearable (inexplicably petulant, arrogant, and oblivious to much of what is going on around her).
I may have to *read* this book myself to determine whether I can return for another Scarpetta novel. Perhaps I've misread the character of Scarpetta for years, but the narrator and I clearly have very different interpretations of her personality.
I also hope that Cornwell allows the characters to grow a bit in the next novel. This was one of my favorite series, and I'm crossing my fingers that the next book brings something fresh to the table.
Worthwhile to listen but not one of my favorites
Not fond of some of characters....superwomen n always weak men. Being a man....
Cnt remember any particular scene.
Marino is a favorite anytime
Not much about a bone bed. Should have developed that more.
I like Cornwell as an author and have read (paper) many of her works. This is the first Audible book from Cornwell I have purchased. I really didn't like the reader. I was constantly confused by her voices that many sounded alike and I couldn't relate to who was speaking.
Yes. I like her work, generally.
No, I thought the story was OK but contrived towards the end.
I would recommend this book if someone has been a Scarpetta fan all along. I would not recommend this book for a first time Scarpetta reader.
Same question as above and same answer.
The narrator was AWFUL! The worst narrator I've experienced since I started listening to books on tape. Her voice to character variation was embarrassing at best and down right terrible at worst. I would NOT buy a book narrated by this individual again.
It's just a boring slow book read in a boring slow way.
That's it. I finally learned my lesson. No more Scarpetta book. This series used to be quite good (I have read all the books, except for the later ones that were just too bad to finish) but I just couldn't finish this one. These books are just not worth my time and credits anymore. The characters are not likeable anymore.
