I would recommend this to a friend. Love the Kim Harrison and Marguerite Gavin combination. The stories filled some holes for me in the Hollows series. I read the novels but hadn't gotten to all the short stories and novellas. It was great having them all in one book. It was really entertaining.
Some of the stories are a little darker then I'm used to with Kim Harrison but I enjoyed them just as much as the happy ending stories. She is an excellent author and really knows how to capture the reader's attention.
I liked the story of Rachael and Pierce the best. It explained how she got into the IS and gave some insight about her childhood illness.
Jenks is always my favorite. I love the voice she does for him. I find it amazing that she can do so many unique voices.
Great addition to series
I liked how it helped flesh out the rest of the series, expanding upon what the other books left out. If you have read the others in this series you need to get this one. Get this after Pale Demon
She's did a good job.
This is a great series and this book is good after getting the rest of the series so it does not spoil any of the other books. Get this after Pale Demon.
We got to see more about the characters that we have grown to love.
For me it was when Al took Ceri. We really did not know that much about ceri and it was nice to know what happened before Rachel met her. I would like to know more about what she went through
Marguerite Gavin, really brings life to the characters. She adds a voice that helps the story in so many ways you feel as if you really know the characters.
If you thought you knew the whole story.... You have no idea
the over all background story of my favorite characters.
all of them, she is the only voice i can hear in my head as all the characters.
couple parts chocked me up, but mostly i was excited to hear what happens next.
i can not wait till EVER AFTER comes out.
I did not read the print version
I read Kim Harrison all the time
Most all of her audio books
Sooner or later, it all gets real!
Definitely helps expand on some of the characters. A very worthwhile read for fans of the Hollows Series! They are also capable of standing alone. MORE PLEASE!
A great book with a collection of items that further explains and deepens our knowledge of the world of the Hollows. Kim Harrison turns out a stellar book which helps to flesh-out the characters and their histories. I love that. Ms. Gavin read the stories in this book with her usual flair. Bravo to both of them.
I was surprised by how very sad the story about Al was when compared to the books. But I guess a story about a demon cannot be a very upbeat thing.
Thanks for another great "listen"!
The story concept could have been great but the character had no character. As much as I wanted something to happen. It never did.
Also - the narration was not good. No inflection. Difficult to listen at length.
The intended plot had possibilities. The title is what pulled me in.
Yes! I liked how she completed the mini story lines in she alluded to in the series.
Jim Butcher short stories. Clarified references in the series that were briefly explianed but the desire for more about that story line had not been provided. Now we know what occurred in these story lines.
The liveliness of the characters and the books become a great story since there is emotion in her presentation that my mind does not provide.
As always with the books there are plenty of parts designed for laughing. Overall I, and other that I know who like the series, really liked and enjoyed the audio book.
Good stories. The Hollows stories include several from different points of view. That was a refreshing touch.
Kalamack was great as he went into the castle after his daughter.
Her English accent wasn't even a try. It was jarring to hear characters described as English speaking in southern US voices. Even a neutral midwestern US accent would have been much better. While I generally like her performances she should have been replaced for this book.
The title tells you that not all of the stories are from the Hollows. But they are not all from that universe, be aware of that going in. It is the nature of short story collections that they are not all equally good. This fits that pattern. A few very good stories some good, but not excellent.
