Reading is a must-have ESCAPE...
Banks crafted an outstandingly unique character in Eveline - she is delicate yet strong, naive yet shrewd, submissive yet spirited. Eveline makes the story so much more. Graeme seems resigned initially to the match but discovers the jewel he's been given. Their journey is rather sweet. It's also interesting how Eveline brings the warring families together when faced with the malevolent Ian McHugh. Don't be surprised if you find that you genuinely get angry at some of the ancillary cast. In general, the Montgomerys and Armstrongs' series offers much more depth to the characters. Definitely one of my favorite Banks' series.
Potter does NOT disappoint. She does a fabulous job of narrating... especially her interpretation of Eveline. Very enjoyable. No doubt the highland-romantic will be putting this book on their re-listen list!
Her scottish accent was really spot on. Her variation of the voice for the characters, men, women, young, older, all very unique.
There were enough trials, and issues to keep you interested in the plot, without being overly stressful. I wanted to know would secrets be revealed? How? by whom? What will their reactions be? How can this end with so much having changed? Its a good book! I was very happy to find out there is a whole series to listen to!
It was refreshing to not have the book drag on with misunderstandings between the hero and heroine. Both were refreshingly honest with one another and that gave them a good foundation to build on. Eveline's initial deception is to escape an unwanted betrothal, but she eventually finds the strength to tell the truth about her believed "daftness" because of her husband, Graeme's patience and kindness to her.
Graeme Montgomery was an admirable leader of his clan and a very patient, loving, and
kind husband to Eveline throughout their relationship, even when he wasn't sure he could have a true marriage with her, he intended to honor his vows.
This is the first audio book I have listened to with Kirsten Potter as narrator. She did a wonderful job and I would love to listen to other books she has narrated.
Yes, I easily could have listened to this in one sitting. It was very engaging and well written.
I am anxious to listen to other Maya Banks books. I enjoyed her style of writing and her characters.
more more more, i just loved this book
I loved all the characters.
My favorite scene is when she finally talked. And explained that she was deaf.
Yes, i couldn't stop listening. Was sad when it ended.

I loved that this book had everything I want in a good story. Great characters, great plot, wonderful voice to listen to while getting involved in the story and hard problems to solve.
Kirsten Potter did an excellent job with the narration, especially the accents.
She lived in a world of her own making, until he woke her up from her hibernation.
Great book. I would definitely recommend it to my friends.
Maya Banks delivered!!!! The story was very good and it provides the set up for a very good series. I like that Evaline was hearing impaired although her ability to speak was one of the hardest things to believe due to the fact that this book is narrated. The narrator cannot really speak like a deaf person who hasn't spoken in three years, but regardless, she did a great job.
Very good and would highly recommend.
I loved this book. I just read it for the second time and still enjoyed it immensely. I read it initially in 2012.
I like this book very much. It's definitely one of my favorites. The story is great...not over doing it on the sex scenes which was nice.
Kirsten Potter does an excellent job of narrating. It's like watching a movie.
I really enjoyed listening to the audio version
You could feel the passion in her voice for the character
