Audio Addict! Usually listening to History these days. Love Will Durant most of all authors!
Maya Banks should stick to writing highland stories. She is at her best in this story! I enjoy all of her highland novels, but this first book of her new series is her greatest yet!!!
I laughed and cried at this beautiful story. Don't miss this one!
I've always been a avid reader so now I'm a avid listener. I prefer the paranormal genre but I do like to switch things up. It's boring if you don't have variety. Of course I do love the romance and the hotter the better. Also, you can't beat a good thriller filled with suspense and a ending you can't even guess at until the very end.
If you love a simply beautiful love story then look no further. It is totally worth the credit. Like a review said "Stop reading the reviews and just get it". Enough said.
I listened to this in one in two long sessions and stayed up a bit too late to listen to it. Obviously something about it captivated me. However by the time I got to the second half of my book, I was rolling my eyes quite a bit.
Ending was pretty predictable, not that's a bad thing in my book. I don't believe that every book must have some surprise ending.
The narration was very good. The Scottish accent wasn't very authentic, but that's because I have an ear for it, having a Scottish husband. Most people won't notice. She didn't manage to do a deaf accent, but that would asking too much probably. She still did a great job, and injected a lot of life into the dialogue
The Cheese factory ? Seriously this book was seriously cheesy.
I must have liked this book since I listened to all of it, which is a rarity for me these days. It was suspenseful and kept you reading. However as you progress into the book you begin to grow uneasy. This is like watching a science fiction film with weak sci-fi elements. Scottish men of that era simply did not act like that. Why even make the characters Scottish. Is this a thing ? An excuse to put a topless guy in a kilt on the cover? There was nothing especially Scottish about the culture described in the book, except for for using the words "clan" and "laird".
"I wear a fez now, fez's are cool"
Yes, Maya Banks does tell an interesting story a bit repetitive but entertaining. Kirsten Potter does a great job, I really enjoyed her Scottish accent.
Only to those die hard romance readers.
Yes, I have, this is consistent with her other performances.
Yes, no, perhaps...
I had some issues with this story that kind of have me wavering between liking the story and disliking it.I liked that the idea of a deaf heroine. That added a uniqueness to the story. Although the heroine seemed to do a lot of sleeping. It was like she was sleeping thorough 60% of the book. Which added a bit to the repetitiveness. It also didn't help that there were comments by the characters about each others respective beauty every other paragraph, your readers get it, these two characters are paragons of beauty, we really don't need to be told every five minutes.I really enjoyed listening to Kirsten Potters voice and that probably saved me from stopping the listen before I finished it. I did enjoyed the story even if it was repetitive. I liked the heroine, even if she was sleeping most of the time. I too can be repetitive.I would say this is worth the listen if it's on sale, but not necessarily worth a credit.
When Graeme Montgomery is forced to wed Eveline Armstrong by decree of the king he thinks his life is over. Not only is her clan his mortal enemy but he fears she is not mentally competent to be any mans wife, let alone a suitable bride for him. Despite her handicap he marries her anyway and is loving and kind, but soon he finds deception is all around them in many forms. Can they reunite their clans to fight the evil that surrounds them or will it be to late?
Excellent story! I listened for hours at a time because I just didn't want to stop listening. The narrator is not my favorite but that's subjective, all in all I think she did a pretty good job. The accents were not my favorite but the story line is so riveting that you cease to care after awhile.
Well worth a credit or even paying for the book to listen to it because it seems to come alive while your listening. I am crossing my fingers for sequel!
HOPEFUL ROMANTIC. I Enjoy Historical & Inspirational Romances With Great Narration. Oh, And I give Honest Reviews with No Spoilers. ;-)
I wasnt expecting to be moved as much as I was with this book. Maybe it was just the hormones but I cried at the ending. I guess I was taken in from the beginning because of the disability of Eveline and the tenderness of Graeme. Im such a sap! The story is so sweet and touching. I will definately be reading book 2 of this series.
I think the title is a little miss leading because this story is really about falling in love not a seduction. Saying that I think this is by far my Favorite Maya Banks story yet. I am not one to wirte reviews with spoilers and I DO NOT recap the whole story, but I will say there are some interesting twists to make this special. I loved the charaters, they had depth, and honor and feelings. Kudos to Maya for making what could have been another "ho hum highlander" romance into something so much more. Kristen Potter is always great. Can't wait for the rest in this series.
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
Great characters! Great Story! I think it could have used a bit more love scenes personally, and it took a little too long to get to the romantic aspect of the these two, but I understand why. Graham thought Eveline was daft or crazy, but when they find out she wasn't, boy did he fall super hard. Well he was falling hard already, but when he knew it was ok for him to be with his wife, like a husband and wife... the man took on his whole clan! Loved it.
Write and teach about horses and horse training. Enjoy good mystery novels and true stories about horses and horse people.
this book starts off with intricate details of the settings and the background and this is slow for an action-adventure lover. Sloe for the first 60% of the book. it picks up midway through and gives the reader a nice build up to answer the question what happens when you seduce a Scot.
The main characters are so likeable, great narration...great story line. ...just listened to it for my 2nd time!!
