Unlike The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, I listened to this with all my kids and they just love Rob Inglis' narration of the cast of characters , he even shines in singing. Fell in love with Bilbo Baggins and had to listen again.
Yes, Great story and told well
Always liked Bilbo!
yes, if it recorded better
It has 4.
There is just so much white noise. I can't use my good headphones b/c the white noise is outrageous especially for the first 5 minutes
Magical, adventerous, nostalgic
I think Bilbo Baggins can be compared to any hero/heroine that doesn't see themselves as such. Harry Potter has been all the rage in my house for more than 10 years and he struggles with the same self doubt that Bilbo does-all the while conquering evil!
What do the Misty Mountains hold?...
I admit I can't read Tolkien. I've tried, several times, but I just can't get the hang of his writing style. However, having someone else read the book to you is a whole different story and it was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the narration.
It was very well read and kept you interested in listening until the end.
No I have not
No but was hard to put down
We have all read this book and loved it. It's a wonderful story. My teen kids recently requested I get the audio version so we could listen during our long drives to and from school. Unfortunately, we find we have to give up on it. The narrator's voices for the dwarfs is so completely different from those we imagined for the dwarfs, and his singing of the songs ... it's just all wrong. We can't take it.
My grandson loved the cartoon version when he was in elementary school so I decided to finally "read" the book. I thoroughly enjoyed it! It's full of adventure but the creatures in it have so many human traits! I recommend it highly for all ages.
Recent convert to audio books and have never "read" as much as I have in the last 6 months
Reliving the classic children's fantasy novel was especially pleasing considering it was just before the release of the movie!
Of course the game of riddles!
This was my first Ron Inglis book, but I was impressed and look forward to hearing him narrate The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
