Another home run. This series just keeps giving me life. I love the characters and the way it's read is awesome.
This is one seriously kickass romp through Las Vegas in ways you won't see coming.
Larry tells a helluva story and Oliver really reads it well, top notch in all ways!
This is not a book series I would have ever imagined I would be interested in - the covers and the concept - monsters, guns, good vs evil via imperfect but brave people . . . I was too snobby for this kind of book series . . . but no more.
The Monster Hunters International series is way too fun. The writing, the imagery, the intricate plots that manage to play out over time in the series of books . . . I'm glad I read the reviews and decided to give the first book a try, and then eventually come back to the second and continue on from there.
Some of the "educational" type of books I get on Audible take work and thinking and concentration. Fun books are a reward. Larry Correia's books are a lot of fun . . . yet I am still baffled that I am able to handle these books. When television commercials for scary movies would start I would quickly change the channel. Perhaps it is the undercurrent of humor and humanity and the viewpoint of heroism that makes even the *scary monsters* in these stories easier to handle. (Plus there's no creepy music like in the movie trailers)
Sometimes I wish more characters were a bit deeper with added descriptions and personality flaws. The mastery Larry Correia shows in describing settings or action or plot could be applied a little more to giving characters more dimension. Some of the British authors I've read earlier this year were outstanding at giving characters finer definition with a few nuanced words.
The humor and self-deprecating wit laced throughout take the edge off the scary monster parts. The author's writing tightens up with each book. The narrator makes it fun and even throws in some sounds that made me laugh out loud.
A fun diversion from real life. A tad addicting.
Bad like that!
The nuances and fun - he made it real.
No matter what, it can always get worse.
An incredibly exciting read.
Best book ever category for sure loved it great humor on top of new idea.
Fifty something, small business owner, married, no children. Love travel, beaches, tropical isles, classic cars and listening!
Never thought it would appeal to me, but I enjoyed the series a lot. Live and learn, expand your horizons, try it you'll like it.
Its not the worst but not my favorite. Dont get me wrong its a GREAT book and the series is one of my favorites but this book just wasnt as good as MHI(book 1) and monster hunter vendetta (book 2) something felt missing... I couldn't put a finger on it. Nonetheless i would recommend it over and over again.
z. (Owen) Owen is everything and more i look for in a character. Average (in a not so average way. If you know what i mean) Funny, sarcastic, and just a plain badass.
He's a good reader. When i listen to him he hooks me into the books and doesn't let me go until the book is finished (and then im left wanting more) he knows how to read for owen better then my own imagination. he captures this series better than anyone else could. Dont change the reader. Or ill just buy the real book from powells
No tears were shed for this book. But oh god did i laugh. That fight scene in the hotel/casino (I think it was also a casino) was hilarious. And as always anything involving owen and franks gives me a hearty chuckle.
Yes, what a great series. It just got better with every book. I want more.
Action builds from the first chapter in book one and never lets you relax. Always something going on that makes you want to keep listening. I was dreading coming to the end of this story because I didn't want it to end.
Great character voices, perfect continuation from book to book. At this point it simply wouldn't be MHI without Oliver Wyman reading it. Please pay him whatever it takes for him to keep reading this series. He is priceless!!
MHI, You don't want to know what you don't know.
Now that I've reached the end of this book I must sadly stop thinking about this series at least until the next book comes out, or I'll go nuts waiting. Thank you Larry for the great series. Yes it has lots of shooting and is simple good vs evil but the strength of the characters and the complex dilemmas they face keeps you enthralled....and besides, deep down we all like stories where evil gets its butt royally kicked.
I have been a huge fan since book one! I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one. It is laugh out loud funny combined with constant action, what more could you want! I love the characters, which are well developed through the series! I will keep coming back for more MHI!
