As always Susan Ericksen delivers with distinctive voices that I've come to look forward to. Even if I decide to pick up one of the older books and read it for fun, I still hear the same character voices in my head.Watching Eve and Roarke grow in their marriage and Peabody grow as a detective, but still with her own style and free-ager fiber is delightful and adds to the plot just as much as the murder, mayhem and investigating.
I did not read the print version. I love the audio versions so much that I haven't picked up a print version since book 3
I love all the characterizations done by Susan Ericksen. It is so amazing to me that she can perform conversations between two or more women and never miss changing characters.
I did cry during this book. It is very emotional with the revelations and the growth experienced by Eve during the book.
Keep them coming!
I love the characters and I absolutely love the narrator. I love the audible versions so much that I won't even buy the actual book anymore because I miss the cast. I also love JD Robb and her usual quality story lines.
Yes, I have every book in the series. I have to say that I didn't particularly like this book as much as the others. I think its because I really want to see more about Roarke. I want some of the story to be about him and his past. I want to have some of my questions about him answered and I'm a little tired of hearing about Dallas' past and how she's been affected by it. I want to know more about how Roarke came to be and how he has been affected.
No, I couldn't make myself listen to the whole thing, yet. I am still loyal to my author and will eventually listen to all of it, but I just can't do it right now.
I just want more Roarke. I love the mystery, the solving of the crimes, but I want more of him.
Nora Roberts a.k.a. J D Robb is a master (mistress?) of creating great characters that one likes and villains that one can hate. You can't help pulling for the heroes in their trials. You know they are going to win out, but there is still the tension that makes it feel as if they could lose. The regular cast of characters is here in all their humor, intensity and charm.
I am a huge fan of Susan Ericksen. She can find things in a reading that I might not find for myself. More of a vocal actress than a reader she really brings the characters alive with her depth of understanding of the story and characters.
I have listened to the series (35 books!!), well I think I am on my third time now!
The characters are great, each one is interesting and comes to life as an individual as well as part of a whole in the stories. Susan Ericksen, well what can you say, there are a lot of good and even great narrators out there but she, at least with these books, surpasses everyone I have ever heard. Not ever narrator could do ever book justice, Ashford McNabb is the best for Maiden Lane series, but the In Death series would never, never, NEVER be the same without the smooth performance of Ms Eriksen, not to mention the distinct voice changes for each character. Kudos to Nora for the stories and Kudos to whom ever decided on Susan to narrate.
Love the In Death seies! I almost feel as if the characters are my friends, and the by-play makes me laugh!
As I do not read the print version of the In Death stories, I cannot fairly compare the audio edition to the print edition.
The most engaging aspect of the story is the search for how the crime is committed. Once that is discovered, the entrapment of the perpetrator is a bit boring.
Susan is a brilliant audio actor! She is very good at assigning characters appropriate accents, dialects, and even tempo to their speech. (The one exception is that all her Latino characters sound the same, which is not true to life.) Her performance gives every character a life that only precise and careful readers would or could do while reading on their own.
Hate, from one generation to another
I always love the stories, and the way Susan Ericksen brings all my old friends back to life....
Eve - She continues to grow and trust those around here - her interaction with Peabody and Mera continue to grow - she's learning to trust more than just Roarke in each book
I love that I can tell who each person is just by her voice.
no - I travel by car each day and listen while driving
When is the next one coming out????
I love these books- it rates tops with me!
I can't choose because I love all the characters in this series.
At the beginning of the book I liked the first scenes as they were so surprising.
When's the next book coming out?
Any of the IN DEATH books, this is as good as the first, 2nd, 3rd. Just because she can still keep our attention after so many of the future crime books.
I just love Roark.
No just kept me intrigued
Just that these books need to keep coming.
