"captivating, easily one of King's finest."
from the prologue to the end Needful Things hooks the listener in, easily one of the finest fantasy horror stories ever written. Along with IT.
"Fantastic story, dreadful performance"
One of Stephen King's finest stories in my humble opinion, that is almost entirely ruined by the droning delivery and horrific music. I actually thought that another app on my phone had started when I heard some of the music, its that bad. Stephen King may write great stories, however he can't narrate... A real shame.
"always a favourite."
love this book and read it lots of times in paperback. found audible great when prepping dinner or cleaning
I really enjoyed listening to this especially as it was narrated by the man himself. I always enjoy Stephen King books and this one didn't disappoint
"perhaps the best opening ever"
the opening of this book is some of the best writing I've ever coke across. Unfortunately, cheap and tacky production on the audio recording ruins the story - there are terrible bits of music at the end of some chapters. all in all though, a very brilliant book
"Even better the second time around."
This was the first King book I ever read and although I don't like everything he writes, I am a fan. I read this many years ago in a far off land, full of scary people. Reading it again in the comfort of my own town, it still sends shivers down my spine. A great read!
"Brilliant story, great reading and production"
A great slow burn story that builds to an explosive ending. The production is great and the reading compelling.
I was glued to this story from start to finish.
A fantastic, horrifying and sometimes deliciously hilarious tale that Mr King has woven so carefully together. A must read.
"Good story and reading, sound effects bit jarring"
Great story and narration was good, there is background music and sound effects though which are a bit jarring.
"Good story, but audio book issues lets it down."
Interesting story with plenty of twists leaving you not knowing what's going to happen but annoying overly loud music between chapters that drones over the reader and audio glitches/hissing let it down.
