Dick Hill does a good job, but gets bogged down when there are more than two women that he has to narrate. I would be more selective on my purchases from Lee Child.
The books has some good moments, but Reacher needs to mature a little. He can not keep on without developing new interests, and on occasion staying in one place for more than a week. It gets too repetitive.
The narration was good.
This is a 3 star book, not the 4 that I have seen. I guess I have become jus too familiar with the plot lines from his previous books.
Jack Reach is an interesting character but seems to have stagnated. We need more development and some different situations. Time to buy some toothpaste and get a breath of fresh air.
Lee Child redeemed himself with this book (I did not like "The Affair"). I finished this book yesterday. I can tell you I will listen to it again.
Great character development
Quit listening as words were just added to make the book of greater length. Was he getting paid by the the word? Loved the character - hated the boring repeating of known facts. I have read MANY other Reacher books but I wish I had not bought this book.
As always, Child's point of view is the mind of Jack Reacher and Jack Reacher has a very interesting mind. Dick Hill's narration is as always excellent. He gets Reacher into your head.
The plot seemed to go a bit astray in the middle and suffered from too many contrivances, but it definitely held my attention.
Ongoing story of a man who simply decides to do the right thing
Taut Storyline. Great Characterizations. Unexpected plot.
Yes! Usually Reacher is in a new town with a person or group of people in need of his special talents. This was different in that there wasn't any one place that was the center of the story. Instead it was all about the action. I couldn't guess what would happen next and that is much appreciated from an avid reader (and listener).
Dick Hill does is usual masterful job of individualizing the characters so you know who is thinking and saying what.
I love the Reacher series and have since book 1. This one is definitely in my top 3 of the Reacher novels. Loved it!
I am an avid Jack-Reacher fan and am indeed pleased with Mr. Child's latest installment in that saga. I enjoyed the highly believable and contemporary nature of the story line and the development and interaction of the main characters. I also think that Dick Hill's narration was outstanding. I anxiously await the next installment.
It was great to have Dick Hill back in my ears again. The story is one of the best in the series.
Reacher's back and so is Lee Childs! He seemed to have phoned in his last works, however has redeemed himself with this. Fast paced. Edgy. Witty banter. Quality from start to finish. A read you will want to listened to straight through. .... still can't visualize Tom Cruise playing Reacher on film... it's hoped that deal has faded away.... But I digress... fun Reacher story. Enjoy!
I'm not good at identifying why I like or dislike a book but I do know that if you're a Reacher fan, you will not be disappointed with his latest adventure. I can say that as with all of the books in the series, this is great as an independent read as well as part of the series. I have read all of the books now and find each book, even out of order, stands on its own while revealing more about Reacher's background and why he is who he is. With every book our hero has an even richer character.
