He just cut's through the BS. He really knows the lies people make up to feed their needs.
His no nonsense delivery.
Just being himself.
Yes very much so!
I wish everyone could read this book! If it doesn't stop you from drinking and other drugs. Their is no excuse left. It's your problem and you know it's your fault! Face the music!
I listened to this book a few times before it really sank in. Beck gives practical tools while all the while ridding the judgement associated with the labels others give us and the ideas we have of ourselves. As soon as I learned the truth behind the media pushing alcohol, the truth of the chemistry in our brain and alcohol and it's effect on my body, it was a no brainer.
My brain is powerful and also very gullible! I believed for a long time that my healthiness was due to me killing all the daily germs with many vodkas each night! Now, days into Craig's vitamin regimen, I have a new belief about my health! He even dealt with the insomnia from quitting drinking!
This is a must for anyone who can't see themselves in a program, but knows something has to be done. I'm so glad I found this book and so is my family!
great resource...can't do though what 12 step programs can do. knowledge alone didn't stop me. from drinking....but the knowledge in the book is a great "part" of the puzzle....if people can get sober with this book alone, AWESOME....kudos to them, honestly....for me, it's just a piece of the puzzle. enjoy, it's a good read!
I am a 56 year old female with a 1 wine bottle a night problem. If you are seriously committed to stop drinking, or even if you wonder if you have a drink problem, this is the book for you.
Each chapter builds on the last to help you understand what alcohol is doing to your body and life and how to break free. The authors narrative voice is pleasant, authoritative, nonjudgmental and supportive.
The only criticism is the "book reviews" inserted along the way are annoying since obviously we have already purchased the book.
I have never taken a single drink of alcohol in my life and I am 58 years old and now I know why! This was a great book and I want to share it with my friends and family that do drink. Thank You, Thank You!!
I love to lsiten to audio books.
Compared to the other books on this same subject, this book makes the most sense to me.
I like that Craig had me look at alcohol from a different prospective then I have ever done before. I agree, it is poison.
Very good performance. Other then him bumping into his mic a few times and making me jump out of my headphones, he did a great job.
I recommend this book for anyone that wants to get a chemical understanding as to what alcohol happens to be.
25 years of living like I couldn't enjoy life without a drink was an albatross around my neck. Every day I said, 'its the last time"... Now it's been 5 months and I feel like a changed person. I am not concerned about fallling back into my old ways because I honestly believe that person has been erased.
You can compare the AA bible, or many other self help books, but its the way Craig Beck brings to light how ridiculous western culture is... we seriously act like a bunch of drones who simply accept social norms to be acceptable and not what is really right for us. His was the only one that hit home and I continue to listen to it, almost like an old friend, when I'm on my way to a business dinner, or a social gathering....
Chapter 8 where he talks about how everyone who is stil drinking will do everything in their power to make you sucumb to their level and drink. Its actually laughable to me now that Craig has pointed it out to me. I make a game out of it for myself - very entertaining how ridiculous people get when around someone drinking iced tea at a party.
All of it has had a very lasting effect on me... but mostly when he blows the lid off marketing companies for alcohol and how engrained drinking is in our culture. Children grow up looking forward to being able to be part of the "club"... lonely people with low self esteem think its an elixer that will cure their worries when at the end of the day its just a vicious cycle. AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!
Craig could build a HUGE presence in the US! His approach is very different and straightforward with no hidden agendas. I've gone on to listen to Fat Girl Friday (of which I lost 11 pounds in 2 weeks so far) and Swallow the Happy Pill. I'm on my second listen through and have already had a few "ah ha" moments..... Keep them coming!!!!
My extreme reaction was I have not desired nor have I had a drop of alcohol since I listened to the audio. Thankyou
I believe Alcohol lied to me was God inspired there is power in every word. Thank you
great insight here
author was right on with many feelings
I believe this book will help many people. The story was to the point and right on. The hypnosis section at the end really helps.
Yes if they were interested in a book that gave an alternative to the 12-step view of alcoholism.
Most- new perspective on what alcohol really is.
