"Warm funny and engaging!"
Clare's humbleness and gentle humour.
The story revolves around animals who form parts of her life which was original and wonderful way to break up a story.
At times I found it hard to get out of the car as I wanted to finish that chapter
The story of meeting princess Anne very funny....not for her mind you....
I had looked forward to this but found the constant harping about Claire's family tiresome (I had assumed, from the title, that it would be like Gerald Durrell's amused and amusing take on his family - it isn't). I also found Claire's urgent, intense delivery very unrelaxing. Better read by someone with less of an axe to grind.
"Sweet Story perfect for easy listening."
I enjoyed listening to Claire tell her story, having known very little of Claire Balding it was refreshing to hear it in her own words. If like me you have similar memories of horse, dogs and the countryside from childhood you cannot fail but be charmed by it!
"Animals, Animals and more Animals"
I would recommend this book to a vet, dog breeder or horse lover
Yes, because it was just getting interesting...
The characters were her various animals and frankly it did go on a bit about all of the dogs and horses, however, the clue was in the title so I guess I should not have been surprised
I must confess that I would be interested to know more about her adult life, how she grew into the job at the BBC, whether the whole lesbianism thing has been a problem or whether it waas not an issue etc....
"Thoroughly enjoyable listen. Read beautifully"
Really enjoyed this book. I am not in to racing or horses at all but do still enjoyed this. I read the overview and liked the idea of the story being told about each of the animals in Clare's life. I am an animal lover myself so it appealed. You don't have to be in to horses or racing to enjoy this book.
A delightful listening experience - one of the best autobiographies I've heard
The complete frankness and honesty
She brought it to life with her own unique presentation skills and attractive
Learned a lot about horses and racing!
"Enjoyed this so much!"
Lovely to hear Clare actually reading her book..makes it all come to life and felt like I was there, even though I have never owned pets and have no interest in animals.
The end if the book where she acknowledges everyone.
"A fantastic read!"
The fact that Clare reads this book is fantastic.
Absolutely love this book. Would recommend this to anyone. :-)
"Kingsclere's most famous daughter tells all"
Really nice that it is narrated by Clare
Honesty (and a 2.1 in English from Cambridge)
Yes but never have that luxury
"A warm honest and entertaining listen"
Read by Clare herself she reveals her life through the families interaction with their beloved animals. I'm normally not a fan of autobiographies but this was difficult to stop listening to.
A life intertwined with that of some of our Royals but at no time does it feel like name dropping, just the simple telling of stories of her encounters, both good and bad.
The reading is clear and gentle on the ears. A riveting listen.
