If you enjoyed the first book in the Expanse Series, Caliban's War will be a please to pick up. The story remains fast-paced, filled with a cast of incredible, fascinating and diverse characters. There were moments of such emotion and depth that I did stop to keep from tearing up. The ending? Wow. I need book three, right now.
I really get lost in the story and hate to put it down
the people are so interesting and I don't know he can keep them straight and I can almost feel them :) sometimes I feel like I'm almost there
I'm surprised that so far in the future that Mr. Corey still assumes people will smoke still using weapons that use powder and cartilages like today. That would be hard to do in a place with no atmosphere.. I expected lasers or something...I found a few references like that like x-rays and a few references to technology that we have today. One would think we would have progressed more
The story moves quicker than its prequel's, but still has all the human detail that makes it so interesting.
Continuing the saga begun in Leviathan Wakes, Caliban’s War takes us to Ganymede for starters. Nefarious human organization is once again playing around with the Proto-molecule only this time they are not going for massive infection. Grabbing up kids with a specific disease that blanks their immune systems they are using them as berserkers to rip through soldiers in the most advanced powered armor. That’s one of the threads.
This really foul mouthed Indian woman who seems to be a big deal in the UN government is yanking on strings, trying to unravel the hawk machinations of the UN Fleet and her boss by using a Martian Marine Corp Gunnery Sergeant as her own little army. Now that’s cool!
Of course, Jim Holden has gotten himself and the crew of the salvaged Rocinante stuck right in the middle of all this and he blunders along making dangerous assumptions...per usual. What’s unusual is that he gets them fired from Tycho station and that brings the crew back together.
I’m enjoying these. I know that SyFy has made a series out of these books which I haven’t seen yet and don’t know if I ever will. The screen of my mind still works however and if only you could see what my mind does when the scenes in this book unfold. I’m giving this four out of five enjoyment points. If Holden gets smarter in the series or at least shows some growth then the next one will rate higher...maybe.
Enjoy, and be legit. Do not pirate, and don’t utilize the refund business that audible plays at. If you don’t like something, review it and consider it a lesson learned.
I love Sci Fi. Anything with spaceships. If you're like me, this is the series for you. Unapologetic of the level of future tech oozing from every paragraph, enveloping a thrilling story.
The narration was excellent and gave the characters excellent depth and color.
Hello, My name is Levi Brousseau. I'm on a life long mission to find stories that blow my mind.
I loved all of it. I was submerged into this world. I love this series so far. has been quite the ride.
the very end...:)
Jeff always does a great job.
This series should be a movie. the tag line would be Dark Matters
If you like good Sci-fi. Check this story out. you won't be disappointed.
This is the second book in this series, and I started right after the first one ended. The storyline was seamless. It feels like just another chapter instead of a whole new book. The story is great, very entertaining. This one, just like the one before, had quite a slow start for me. It wasn't until the last 1/3rd of the book that things really ramped up. The wait was worth it. I've already downloaded the third installment and plan to listen immediately. If you like space travel, technology, and the intricacies of human interactions, then this is a no brainier.
