one of my favorite books in the series, and hearing it this time was amazing! The perfect voice for Stark!
no... it's the Dresden version of ghost story.
It is like a filler for better books
it does, and it's so much better.
Sandman Slim is now Lucifer, getting bored with Hell and all the politics. Demons are still trying to kill him there, so he has to sneak out to have any life at all. He escapes back to home and finds out there have been a lot of changes. Great narration of all the characters help to make this series so interesting, with its warped sense of humor that will keep me coming back for more.
At least the last book I"ll be listening to in this series was better than the last two but not good enough to keep me listening. There were more things happening than just fighting, even though there was a lot of that.
If you like a lot of violence and gore with not too much of a story line in between you might like this series but it just wasn't for me.
But it does have a great narrator.
Devil Said Bang picks up a few months after Aloha From Hell ends. I didn't do it, but I suspect it's more satisfying if you read Devil in the Dollhouse (book 3.5) before you grab Devil Said Bang. In any case, it's more of the same Stark and supporting characters you've come to love and expect. Witty banter, plenty of entertaining metaphors to paint the Sandman Slim universe, and a plot that moves well make this book a fun, gritty, and downright blasphemous good time.
I really enjoy the direction and depth that Stark's relationship with Candy is taking. When she pops open the box-turned-rifle and immediately tries to shoot it, Stark says 'that's why I didn't load it'. That was a moment where I felt both characters totally got one another.
The variety of voices he's able to find and their accuracy to how the characters are written.
A helluva good time.
Love this series so far! I would like to see a little more into the mythology behind what it takes to receive 'salvation' in the Sandman Slim universe. I mean, ultimately if anyone deserves it, it's Stark.
