First the Bad News: the ending/reveal of the story is pretty silly and out of left field. The plot and characters sometimes lapse into cliche.
The Good News: In spite of these shortcomings, the story is largely enjoyable and engaging. (I'd probably have given 3 1/2 stars to the story if that were an option, but the goofy ending precludes a 4 star rating for me.) It has good suspense and some genuinely scary moments. The performance is solid and doesn't diminish. Deathless literature it is not, but it kept me entertained and that's what I was looking for.
This was recommended by Audible. I read the other reviews and they all said this was a fun book. I was not disappointed. This was a long book but the action never stopped. This book was an adventure and a mystery. I enjoyed this book very much. Its very "American Horror"

couldnt stop listening
the indian dream walker, he found out what the haunting was all about
some characters were so damn annoying you wanted to scream, because they couldnt see beyond their noses. But in saying that it added to the story.
I enjoyed this new twist on a classic ghost story. Though over 15 hrs, I never felt the story dragged. I would have preferred a more dramatic narrator, but Jeffrey Kafer does a good job nevertheless. I hope, as the ending suggests, there will be a second book.
This is a good old fashioned haunted house ghost story with colorful characters and beautifully narrated by Jeffrey Kafer.
I guess it was the house itself.
He's nice to listen to.
no, it's pretty long. I spread it out over several days and looked forward to it every evening.
great book to take with you on vacation!
This was one of those stories that I wanted to listen to every free minute. It was just scary enough to keep you alert but not drive you off the road! I truly enjoyed every bit.
Im a busy Mama, always on the go! Lover of historical fiction and Sci fi horror.
On a dark and stormy night, a logic defying group of people investigate and old house. Though it was the "same old story" told many diffrent ways, The Supernaturals was good and creepy. Not overly creative, I never found myself trying to guesse what happens next. I enjoyed the story and the narration, but wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it to a friend.
Dr. Kennedy - His character was just right. I don't know how to describe it but when I really get into a book my voice in my head takes on that of my favorite character. I start thinking like he is speaking. It's a lot of fun and I'm doing it now.
However, I don't believe the narrator had the best voices and could've done better. I love how the story unfolded and how Summer Place took on a life of it's own and I could see it and see inside it. The narrator's voices were lacking but the descriptions used and the way he presented the book set the scenes very well
Laugh, a few times - just a chuckle
It did make me stop listening to it at night while I was all alone. I know if I had finished the book alone and in the dark I would've been very scared
This is a fantastic book, a great read and listen. Pick up the book and have some fun.
The way it started with a bang and continued from there
All were ok but my least fav was the tv exec
his narration was spot on
Seriously, this book was great. I listened straight through, couldn't take it out of my ear.....not many books affect me like this. I couldn't wait to know what would happen next. if u have a credit to spare and want a great ghost story, you should realy pick this one up.
wow it really went up close to the top
his voices were really good and there were many of them. He never just droned on.
I would recommend this one. I like haunted houses stories and this one was good. I was not going to get it, but I read some other readers reviews and thought it was worth a try. I am so glad I did.
