Dept Q, Harry Hole... where are you?
I've written two reviews explaining why I like this series so much and I'm glad to say its conclusion is as satisfying as it is epic. The two Muskateers are pushed to their limits, thankfully without losing their sense of humor and timing.
Tim Reynolds is awesome as the narrator. He gives every character the distinction they deserve, while catching all the humor and cleverness the story demands.
The author's wife fell so hard for Hadrian character she has inspired him to begin a long series of prequels. All I can say to that is, Cheers to you Mrs. Sullivan!
This was the last installment on a great series, this is a must read for any lover of fantasy literature. The characters were likeable and well developed and the story was not predictable, I completed all three novels in about 5 days could not put my earplugs down. The ending was positive and uplifting.
Its been a long time I have had such wonderful story told to me. it moved my emotion like nothing has in a long time. narrator gave life to characters. From First to Last book I was captivated, from first page to last I was lost in a fantasy I will never forget
Absolutely, I think it was good as lord of the rings if not better.
Lord of the rings
Royce and Hadrian
Many moments, but I don't want to give the plot away.
The ending is superb!
I feel in love with all the characters
Too long or I might of
I don't usually rush out for all the "best sellers", but give each intriguing book/author a look. I have found many diamonds in the rough.
I would give this trilogy more than 5 stars. This final book delivered a more than perfect ending that transported me right into the story. A great fast paced, never a lull, listen that provoked many, many emotions. The characters are created so well it is hard not to actually care for them while embracing all of their nuances and personalities. Probably best to start with the first book to become totally absorbed in this astonishing adventure. They are all excellent.
Royce and Hadrian must find some way to eradicate the charlatans that have been running the New Empire, and return power to the reining Empress. This is no easy feat, as they are constantly being mislead by the dual faced characters that they find around every corner, good and bad. Their ultimate goal is to discover and place the true "Heir of Novrone" on the throne in time to stop, The Great Elven Army, that is comming to eliminate all human kind.
Tim Gerard Reynolds does such a stellar job of narrating that it was easy to forget that it is only one person reading. All three of the books in this trilogy are exciting and thoroughly engrossing. I was sorry to have it come to an end, but, will definitely look for more books by the author and narrator. The best fantasies I have listened to. Highly recommended.
This is a difficult question to answer but I feel it is when Mince first spots the elven advance guard. It is brief but spine tingling because for the first time you feel, not just know, what the realm is up against.
Only the Sullivan books. Reynolds is dazzling.
A sweeping, epic fantasy that will have you under it's spell!
I feel so lucky to have found this series and therefore this book. It is rewarding as soon as you press play. The flaws, such as painfully trite dialogue and muah-ha-ha, Scooby-do type villains, are quick and easy to forgive. This Sullivan triumph is an impeccable example of skilled dramatic pacing. With the exception of way too much time describing sailing terms (seriously, I hate ships now) the storyline swings from one nail biting moment to the next. Trust me, you simply won't be able to predict what happens next. The plot is brilliantly advanced with excitement and loose endings are tied up with creativity and ingenuity. I am eagerly awaiting more fiction from this author. Enjoy!!
Love books, hate to read!!!
